Disclaimer: I just wrote the plot.
Summary: What you're going to do when you received a message from Shinigami that said you're joining their game? 25 people including Sakurai Sho, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari and Matsumoto Jun try their best to survive the game for the rest three days or they will lost their lives in the most fatal accident they ever thought. Will they manage to? And why Ohno Satoshi who has nothing to do with it tries to rescue every victims that he found?
Warnings: This story full with blood, murderer and plot that might be unsuitable for you who hate this kind of stuff. For you who ever read my fics before, THIS STORY is different from what I ever wrote.
The rain pour heavier at the moment Sho and Nino reach the other side of the city. Both guys already tired by continuously running without stopping since more than 10 minutes ago, but considering that their strategy has a higher chance of well-working if the two of them separate far from Aiba and Jun, they decide to keep on running. At the same time, Sho gradually hesitate with the idea he just came up. Indeed the plan unexpectedly might save both Ohno and Jun’s sister from the Shinigami, but a new problem will start from there. What if his Shinigami still doesn’t want to let Ohno off from under his control? Or what if Jun decides to bring his sister along with him? That matter will put Aiba and Jun lives in danger.
‘And since Ninomiya-san and I are already far enough from the two of them, that’s mean we can’t lend any help to them anymore in case something bad happen.’
Sho worriedly thinks as he tries to match with Nino’s pace in front him. He didn’t pay so much attention with his step until the eye patch guy abruptly stop.
“What’s wrong?”
“Someone is there.”
Nino speaks lowly but still audible. Hearing that, Sho immediately looks up to see at the same direction. The rain makes their sight a bit blur, but as soon as they saw a movement under the heavy rain, Sho freezes.
“It’s Ohno-san.”
Immediately, he drags Nino with him to the nearby café. Both guys quickly find for a hiding place and try to avoid from breathing heavily when they saw Ohno is walking pass the café. Fortunately the light is coincidently off and the shop was look dark from outside because of the dark glass which makes them a bit impossible to be finding out. For a while, their eyes just follow Ohno’s movement quietly until the guy disappears from their sight.
“He’s gone.”
With a sigh, Sho leans his forehead on the glass; try to catch all his lost breath up. At the same time, Nino was about to lean on the small coffee table behind, but something bumps lightly his back. Immediately, he turns around.
“What the…”
He completely lost of words. Sho on the other hand turns to him from looking outside the glass.
“Oh my…”
The two of them steps back at the same time. Their eyes go wider by the sight of body hanging with its neck on the ceiling.
“…Suicidal?”
“I-I think so.”
Both of them stay still for a while. Nino then carefully observes the cold body from above to its feet. As he saw a little movement from its fingers, he quickly approaches the body while pushes one of the coffee table nearby along with a chair on it. Only after he almost climbs up the chair, he turns to the still shock Sho behind.
“Sakurai-san, can you please hold this table for a while?”
“S-Sure.”
The other one immediately moves toward him.
“You want to take this body down?”
“Maybe he’s still alive. I just saw he moves his finger but I’m not sure.”
More than couple of minutes later, they managed to bring down the hanging body. Slowly, they laid it carefully on the floor. Still remember with what Nino just told him before, Sho moves two of his fingers to the body’s neck but he found no trace of working pulse anymore.
“He’s death, Ninomiya-san.”
Nino frowns. Soon, the elder one stands up and moves to the glass again just to make sure if Ohno is still nearby.
‘I should tell Aiba-san about this.’
Sho immediately took out his phone. At the same time, Nino comes to approach the body before crouches down right beside it. Dissatisfied with Sho’s statement, the eye patch guy moves his hand to reach for the body’s wrist but all of sudden the body opens its eyelids.
‘What the-!’
Unexpectedly, the death one suddenly grabs his neck. As the body forcefully makes Nino to stand up by holding tightly his neck, sound of stiffness clearly can be heard from its muscles; showing that the body already hanging longer than they expect it should be. Soon, the chairs and tables fall hardly on the floor when the body harshly pushes Nino to the hard café’s wall with a thud.
“Ninomiya-san!!!”
He quickly runs toward them; leaving the phone on one of the coffee table behind. Meanwhile, the body tightens its hold around its victim neck; purposely makes the breathless guy in front to chock by his strangle. Though Sho already do all he can to make the body pulls away its hand, none of it were working. Finally, he grabs a chair from the floor and hit the cold body using it.
“LET HIM GO!”
However, the body refuse from do anything but tighten its grip. Seeing it, Sho starts to panic and continuously hit the death body using the chair. As he notices that his company’s face is gradually becomes pale, one of his ‘attack’ accidently hits hardly the corpse’s head and makes the death one falls on the floor with a broken bone sound.
“Are you okay?”
Nino just nods while touches his already red neck. Soon however, a crack sound comes from the body that make Sho readily to take any action in case it wants to do any attack again.
“I thought I just broke its neck.”
“Seems it can’t feel the pain. Just like a zombie.”
Realizing that the body perhaps is targeting for him, Nino immediately took out his phone and speed dial for his own phone which is now in Jun’s hand. Sho on the other hand takes a quick glance behind them as soon as he heard the guy behind him flips close his phone.
“Watch out!”
The eye patch guy turns to his side immediately. His eyes go wider when he saw his Shinigami is now standing right beside him with a smile.
Maybe this will be the end for you Ninomiya Kazunari-san?’
The apprentice doesn’t say anything but steps backward. At the same time, the cold body before tries to get up again, but fail when Sho gives another blow to its body using the same chair. Just when the Shinigami wants to approaches them closer, he suddenly flinches and freezes for a while. Immediately, his smile disappears.
What. Why?
His gaze change to the confuse one.
Why your message is calling for me? You’re right in front of me now!
All of sudden, the death body falls back on the floor from tries to back on its feet again. As soon as the two guys turn away from glancing at the death one, they saw the Shinigami is nowhere to be found anymore.
“…Impossible.”
“But this is amazing. Your plan is just working.”
What plan?
Both guys clumsily turn to the doorway. There, Sho’s Shinigami already smirk evilly with Ohno stands few steps in front him like waiting for the Shinigami’s next orders.
Kill him!
‘I hope I made it.’
Jun worriedly keeps his eyes on the phone’s screen in his grips before continues to look for his sister. Back then, he received a missed call from the phone’s real owner; signing him that the guy need him to send a message to his Shinigami in order to save the phone’s owner like Sho had plan.
“Ne-chan!”
He shouts out while his eyes roam to the every inch of the half finish building around him. Unfortunately, the rain makes it a bit difficult.
“Ne-chan!”
TANG!
All of sudden, a huge construction steel falls few metres from his right. Startle by it, Jun takes few steps aback before he finally looks up and saw another same thing falls but this time much closer. Soon after it hits the ground, he almost moves to the safer area but stops when he heard something is going to fall from the building.
‘Crap!’
His eyes grow wider when he saw dozens of blocks and bigger steels now readily to smack him deathly from above. Panic by it, Jun covers his head immediately using his hands. Sounds of hard collide steel, smashing blocks and water splash noising his surrounds for a while, but nothing of it touches Jun’s body even in a feather way.
What? How come?!
He immediately looks up. Right few steps in front him, the old man who suppose to be Nino’s Shinigami is returning his gaze with full of confusion eyes. Just when the Shinigami almost succeeds to take his apprentice’s soul before, he was called by a message from his OWN apprentice’s phone which leads him to no choice but come to the sent place.
This is impossible
And the old Shinigami suddenly disappears. On the other hand, Jun just stands still under the heavy rain for a while. He is still shock by the sudden attack until the moment he saw those miracle mess around him.
“Sakurai-san’s plan is working.”
Soon, he moves to leave the place and continue his searching. He knows that running pass the construction’s site while screams for his sister is not a good idea, but this is the best way he only can think now. After all, he already told his sister to wait for him at the hospital and the construction’s site is the only shortcut to reach there.
“Help!”
Abruptly, he stops.
“Somebody help me!”
‘A man?’
Another cries out comes from the same man again. Now, Jun hesitant with what he should do. As much as he wants to run to the pile of debris that the voice comes out from, it also as much as he realizes that he still need to look for his dear sister. Plus, he might put that poor man’s life in danger anytime if he comes closer to the other one.
‘I better g-”
“Help me!”
Jun stops from move on again. He then turns to the man’s place while bites his lower lip.
‘…I can’t leave him.’
Finally, he heads to the pile of the debris with full speed.
“Are you okay?!”
“Please help me!”
As soon as he pushes some blocks and debris from the piling mess, pair of legs show up from under it. Later, he saw a man in a black coat when he lifts medium size debris away and reaches for the man’s hand before moves to pull him from there. The pale man almost falls because of his shaking tired knees, but Jun fortunately grabs his body on time.
“Hang on.”
Quickly, he flips open his phone and starts to dial for the emergency number. Just when he almost presses the green button however, he stops. Immediately he turns to the man again.
“Can you move?”
The man nods weakly.
“I’m sorry but I can’t stay longer here. And if I call for help now, I’m worried that it might lead to something more horrible to happen.”
“…What do you mean?”
“It’s complicated. I-”
At the same time, he saw his Shingami is approaching under the rain and immediately grabs the man’s arm to hide behind the large debris nearby. From their place, he can see his Shinigami is now not far from them though he is not sure whether the other one already notices their presence there or not.
‘I need to call for Ninomiya-san now.’
He flips his phone open again. While his eyes still watch carefully his Shinigami’s movement, he speed dials to his own phone; tries to seek a help from Nino. After leaves a missed call just like what Sho told them before, he immediately flips off his phone. However, even until the Shinigami just few feet from them, nothing still happen.
“Oh, come on. What is he doing?”
“Why are we hiding here?”
The man now looks at him with full of question, makes Jun to feel guilty for drags him along with his problem. Again, he peek at the Shinigami’s place and almost let a relief sigh out when he saw the other one is about to leave the place. Unfortunately, a ringtone for a new message suddenly comes loudly from the phone in his hold.
‘Not now!’
However, the Shinigami already makes his steps toward their hiding place. Jun’s heart starts to beat fast when the other one is now really close to them before the Shinigami suddenly stops.
I thought he’s here
And in a blink of eyes, Jun’s Shinigami can’t be seen anywhere anymore. Jun who just nervously watching since while ago, let a proper relief sigh out from his mouth.
“There’s a way to maybe extend our lives a bit more.”
“How?”
“By exchange our phone with each other.”
The other three survivors frown by his words.
“Ninomiya-san said before that the Shinigami will immediately come if we sent a message to call them, for kill us right? So by exchange our mobile phone with each other, it might be working.”
“What do you mean?”
“Like Aiba-san said; the Shinigami can’t kill someone who’s not its apprentice. So if we exchange our phone with others and we reply the message from the Shinigami, the Shinigami of the phone’s owner will immediately come to attack us. But since the holder of the phone wasn’t the real owner of it’s, the Shinigami can’t kill him right?”
“But we’re not hundred percent sure about it. Plus, if we bump into each other during the middle of our getaway, it might be the end.”
“That’s why we need to run separate with each other to avoid it from happen. The more far us from each other, the higher chance we have to make this plan work. Only leave a miss called as a sign but if there’s anything important to say, better to just leave a message especially for Aiba-san.”
The talk makes him flips open his phone.
‘…Who’s the sender of the message?’
Immediately, brings his eyes to the phone’s screen. Few presses from his fingers on the button and his eyes go wider in surprise.
From the other side of the city, Aiba still stands under the heavy rain with his eyes never leave Sho’s phone in his grips. He wonders if he should calls Jun and tells him that he found his sister, but considering that he can’t hear anything, he decided to leave a message. However, till now he still receives no reply from the other one.
‘I wonder if he’s okay. And for Sakurai-san and Ninomiya-san too…’
He worriedly closes the phone. Few minutes after he struggled under the rain, he finally realized that if he wanted to look for Ohno, he needed to send a message to call for Sho’s Shinigami since Ohno is now only following the death angel’s order. Right after he sent the message later, he saw Jun’s sister was sitting in front of an abandon shop while shaking coldly. At first, he decided to approach the lady, but when he realized that he might put her life in danger, he immediately stopped.
‘What should I do…’
Aiba bites his lower lip when he saw the lady is now sneezing because of the coldness. Soon, the lady finally saw his existence there and her face change into a horror one.
“Look out!”
The deaf guy frowns when the lady looks like screaming while point toward something behind him. Immediately, he turns around and surprise when a sudden steel bat is readily to hit him hardly.
STOP!
Stop!
The swift steel bat abruptly stops only few centimetres from Aiba’s head. Immediately, the ‘puppet’ let the bat out of his hold and blankly returns Aiba’s surprise eyes.
“Ohno-san!”
Don’t tell me that you’re trying to kill my apprentice!
So what? Do you know that I almost kill Sakurai Sho-san if not because of him!
Like I care about it!
So, do you think that I’m not minding to kill your apprentice?
I think you also know you need to follow the rules. You can’t kill Aiba Masaki-san without my permission!
I don’t think I need YOUR permission! I’m in higher rank than you!
Seeing the two Shinigami are arguing with each other, Aiba immediately flips open Sho’s phone and do a missed call to his own phone which is now in Sho’s hand. He then shoves it back inside his pocket and reaches for Ohno’s shoulders.
“Ohno-san, can you hear me?”
However, the guy in front doesn’t give any reaction at all.
“Please be strong. Try to fight against his control. I can’t stand to see you become like this after all the things you’ve done for me and Sakurai-san.”
He shook the unconscious guy a bit. Unfortunately, Ohno just quietly looks at him.
You-!
The female Shinigami startles all of sudden. As she turns to Aiba, she frowns confusedly.
It’s a shame on you
With a curse, the female Shinigami shoots the pure one with a glare before vanish herself away from there. Aiba on the other hand completely doesn’t care about his surrounding until Ohno all of sudden grabs tightly his neck. The powerful strangle becomes stronger for each second until the deaf guy feels that he is going to die because of the killer pain and not because of lacking of breath.
Payback time! Do you know how much fun I have when I saw the two guys were struggling to save their lives before?
Slowly, the Shinigami come to approach him. Aiba tries to loosen Ohno’s grips by reaches for the guy’s fingers around him, but it doesn’t work at all.
I’ll make you die in suffer
“O…h…no…sa…n!”
He coughs when Ohno purposely tightens his strangle.
Kill him!
Aiba immediately closes his eyes tightly in reflex; waiting for his death to come. Unexpectedly, his breath gradually turns out better and he can feels Ohno’s hand around him is getting weaker. Hesitantly, he opens his eyes.
Why are you here?!
At the same time, the deaf guy let few hard coughs out from his mouth. He reaches for his neck and rubs it gently with his eyes still staring at the face in front him in disbelieves. The guardian meanwhile just beams him a smile with his right hand still on Ohno’s shoulder. He then gives a light tap on the Ohno’s shoulder which immediately makes Ohno’s body flinch and his eyes suddenly closes. Right before his master unconscious body almost falls to the hard road; the guardian immediately grabs for his waist and leans him on his body.
“Yamashita-san?”
“Yo.”
