'ARASHI' CHAPTER 22 : In Love with a Ghost?

Both Aiba and the ‘ghost’ walk on the small road without saying anything at all. They only looking at their surrounding, trying to avoid from meeting with each other eyes. Maybe they are too shy because of the ‘incident’ before or didn’t have any topic to talk about. And since the school session still not ended yet, Aiba was seeing the school’s doctor and ask for her permission to back home earlier. He even acted that he had a terrible headache and need to back home for taking his medicine.

‘Why he suddenly want to bring me for a walk?’

The ‘ghost’ hesitantly looks at Aiba beside.

“Umm...”

“Hm?”

“Where are we heading right now?”

“Ah, actually I don’t know too.”

She immediately stops and looks at Aiba with her shocked eyes.

“Eh? What do you mean with ‘I don’t know too’?”

“Means, I’d never think about where should we go too~”

He also stops while harrows his hair.

“So, why you take me for a walk and lied to the school’s doctor about your health?”

Aiba’s heart thumps hardly again. Actually, he brings her out cause’ he wants to find out about Ninomiya and Matsumoto words before. However, he still doesn’t understand about it all.

“...Well, since we’re outside right now, have you any idea where should we go?”

“Have you forgot that I’d died 10 years ago? So, there’s no way I’ll know any places that we can go. Wait, you haven’t answered my question yet.”

“Eh? Which question?”

“ ‘Why you take me for a walk’ question.”

Aiba looks at the determined ‘ghost’ in front. He doesn’t know if he should tell her about the reason or not. Then, he remembered about her words before.

“...Cause’ you said you’re alone for all this time, so I want you to feel the life as a teenager this time...”

“...Really?”

She looks at Aiba with her teary eyes. That was her dream from a long time ago and she was really hopes that he can grant it.

“Means, I’ll be an ‘alive’ human today?”

‘Yabai~ Cho kawaii!’

Now, he feels like his heart can explode anytime with those innocent eyes. Without hesitantly he nods, making her scream happily and hugs him TIGHTLY on the spot. Aiba almost die because of too shock and he can feel that his heart was suddenly stops from beating. Immediately, he holds her shoulders and pushes her gently from hugging him. He definitely will die if the ‘ghost’ doesn’t releases his body right now.

“W-well, let’s enjoy our moment together today!”

They really enjoy their moment together. Aiba brings her to the arcade place and they’re free to play anything they want since there are no other people there except of them. After enjoyed their time at there, they have some walk at Akihabara and observing the unique and unbelievable cosplayers there. Since there are not so many cosplayers 10 years ago, the ‘ghost’ really enjoyed with the scenery and even laugh hardly with Aiba when they saw any weird ‘fashion displaying’ at the Akihabara’s street.

“Wait. Weren’t you’re a high school student?”

“Eh?”

Both of them turn around by the sudden voice from back. Their face turn to pale as the voice was came from a mid age policeman. Immediately, both of them continue to walk, but with a faster pace than before. Well, it was unnecessary for a student being there when the school’s session still ongoing.

“Stop right now and let me see your student’s ID.”

The policeman said while following them from behind. However, both of them keep walking without give any reaction toward the policeman at all.

“What should we do?”

“Um...Can you run?”

“Run?”

“Yup. Cause’ we’ll be expelled out from school if he managed to catch us.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Now hold my hand tightly.”

She immediately followed it while takes a peek at the approaching policeman behind.

“1...”

“I told you to stop right now.”

“2...”

“I said stop!”

The policeman finally shouts impatiently.

“3!”

Immediately, both of them swiftly run from there, making the mid age policeman shocked before followed their pace from behind.

“Don’t try to run away from me!”

Aiba starts sweating and worried by the policeman’s shouts. He can’t imagine what will happen to them if the policeman managed to reach them. For a while, he forgot that even they got caught, only him will being expel. Suddenly, the ‘ghost’ laughs.

“This is fun!”

She said while running happily besides Aiba. Aiba confusedly looks at her since she should be worried about it and not laughing instead. However, he suddenly smiles brightly when he realizes that he manages to make her laugh pure from her deep heart.

“This way.”

Immediately, he drags her to the isolate road there and brings her to hide behind the pile of garbage there.

“Bend down.”

He said it while brings her closer to him. At the same time, he keeps his eyes at the main road, hoping that the policeman will not realize that they are hiding there.

“Was he go-”

“Shh.”

Aiba immediately hush her as he saw the policeman was looking for them at the main road. The ‘ghost’ moves closer to him while closing her eyes tightly, hoping that they will not be caught off. They remain in that state for few minutes.

“...Alright. It’s safe now.”

He said it as the policeman was walk away from there. The ‘ghost’ immediately opens her eyes and takes a peek from Aiba’s back and chuckled.

“Wow, I never thought that I can rely on you.”

“Of course! I’m a man after-”

He abruptly stops as he saw her face only a few inches from his. Clumsily, he stands up while looking at the other direction.

“W-Well, I think it’s better if we don’t stay here anymore right?”

“So, where should we go?”

She followed him to get up while cleaning up the dirt on her clothes. At the same time, Aiba feels a bit dizzy, but he tries to ignore it.

“...Anywhere but here.”

Then, they walk away from there as fast as they can after make sure the policeman wasn’t there anymore. However, it was hard for the ‘ghost’ to follow Aiba’s pace as Aiba was walking too fast in front of her. Actually, Aiba was so worried if the policeman still nearby with them, so he tries to walk away as fast as he can.

“Eh?”

Aiba immediately stops and looks at her when she suddenly holds his hand.

“You’re too fast. So, let me hold your hand or you’ll be leaving me behind.”

“Oh, okay.”

He let her hold hands with him thought his heart thumping hardly inside. He doesn’t know why he keeps feeling that whenever they are close with each other. Accidently, he saw a love couple are passing them from in front. The couple are holding hands just like them.

‘Hmm...just like a lover ne...’

He said it while looking at them before look back at his way.

‘Lover, lover, lover, love.r, love.R, love...’

He stops and immediately looks at her with his shocked eyes.

“EHHH????!!!!!!!!”

“What’s wrong?”

‘NO way! LOVE?!!!!’

“What happened?”

‘I’m in LOVE?!!!’

“Oi! Are you okay?”

She said it while waving her hand in front of his face. Aiba stand still before finally got back his ‘lose’ soul before.

‘So, the thing that Nino and Matsujun meant before was this?!’

“Oi~ what’s wrong with you?”

Aiba startled a bit before looks at her while smiling awkwardly.

“W-Well, let’s back home n-ne?”

He said it while trying to avoid from looking at her. The ‘ghost’ nods thought still feel hesitant with his answer. Finally, he understand why his heart thumps hardly when look at her face, why he feels like heartbroken when he saw her tears and why his face suddenly turns to red every time he remembered about her. But what make him so terribly anxious right now was, her hand still holding tightly his hand and that making his face become totally reddish. Thankfully, she didn’t notice it.

“This road not jammed like usual right?”

He said as they waiting for the traffic light change to green. Suddenly, the sky becomes darker thought it just a sunny day before.

“It seems like will be raining today.”

He said, trying to hold a conversation with her like usual.

“What’s wrong?”

Aiba looks at the ‘ghost’ besides as she didn’t answer him at all.

“I think I saw one of them...”

“Eh? Who?”

She points toward a lady that is readily to enter a car with her hands hold a little girl’s hand besides.

“That’s her. I’m sure.”

Aiba looks at the lady before looks back at her. He saw her eyes are full of anger and grudge and he can feels her hand holds his hand tighter than before.

‘She was talking about her ex-best friends?’

Immediately, Aiba becomes worried. If his guess was right, means she will do something bad at the lady right now. Suddenly, the sky echoed with the thunder sound as her hand becomes tighter and tighter on his. Aiba gradually feels panic before the traffic light suddenly change to green.

“Wait! What-!”

The ‘ghost’ startled from her deep grudge when Aiba suddenly pulls her hand to cross the road with him.

“It’s green now. We need to cross this road before it becomes red again.”

“LET ME FINISHED HER FIRST!”

“You must saw a wrong person. 10 years had pass and-”

“NO! I’M MORE THAN SURE THAT WAS HER!”

Then, she immediately releases Aiba’s hand and wants to run away. However, Aiba manages to catch her wrist and brings her from there as fast as he can.

“LET ME GO!”

She shouts while trying hard to releases her hand from Aiba’s grip. Aiba didn’t say anything, but brings her far from the road before finally releases her hand.

“Listen here.”

He immediately cupped her face when she tries to run back at the road.

“That was not her.”

“NO! That was-!”

“You’ve seen a wrong person.”

“But-”

“Trust me.”

Aiba gives her a confident looks. He tries to speak as gentle as he can, so she will not feels more anger and hurt.

“But, I’m so...”

Her eyes become teary again. Then, she kneels down and starts crying. She was desperately wants to take revenge with her ex-best friends, but maybe Aiba was right. 10 years had passed and there’s no way she can recognize them easier. Slowly, Aiba followed her down before hugs and pats her head.

“It will be raining now. Let’s back home ne?”
