SUMMARY: The truth between Sho and Shoko-chan.
A/N: -Aiba -Matsujun -Nino -Ohno -Sho
AOMORI, TWO YEARS AGO.
Many people gathered around the accident area. One of them was Sakurai Sho. He was 14 years old on that time. His family had a trip to Aomori for their summer vacation. He was on his way back to the hotel from the 24 hours shop when he witnessed a truck bump onto a car and slipped to the roadside, causing injured to some pedestrian. Women screamed because of the horror while the men including Sakurai tried to help the victims there. Sakurai ran to the car. He found one man was trapped on the driver’s seat.
“I found-!”
Suddenly the man grab Sakurai’s wrist.
“M-My-d-daugh-ter-”
“Daughter?”
Sakurai looked around. Nobody came nearer the car as they thought the victims in the car were dead. It’s not surprised him since the car was badly crushed and he also can’t believe the man can still survived.
“P-pleas-e-s-sav-e-my-d-daug-th-er-”
“I will, but let me help you fir-”
The man tightened his grabbed.
“Pl-ple-a-se-”
“But...”
He can’t leave him. The man was badly injured and might die if he doesn’t help him immediately. Sakurai tried to scream for help, but everyone was busied to help the victims on the roadside or finding for a safe place as they feared the truck and the car will be explode. The man seems knew what in Sakurai’s mind.
“D-Don-t-wo-r-ry-a-b-out-m-me-p-p-le-a-s-se-sa-v-ve-h-he-r-”
“No! Let me-”
“I-I-b-be-g-y-yo-u-”
Tears started fell from the man’s eyes.
“O-okay.”
The man loosens his tighten from Sakurai’s hand.
“Sh-sh-e-w-wa-s-sit-t-ing-b-be-s-si-d-de-m-me-”
Sakurai moved to the other side of the car. Amazingly, the little girl still breathed although she was bled and unconscious. He lifted the little girl to the safe place nearby, so the trapped man can see that he managed to save her daughter. The man smiled when he saw her daughter still alive. Sakurai ran back to the man.
“Alright, let me help you.”
No answered.
“Sir?”
Sakurai touched the man’s hand and the man looked at Sakurai. He mumbled something and tears flow slowly on his cheek. Sakurai tried to come closer, but someone grab him from behind.
“Are you mad?!! This car will be exploding anytime!”
“Let me go!! The man still alive!!!”
“He’s dead!”
“NO! HE STILL ALIVE! DO YOU HEAR ME?!! HE STILL ALIVE!! WE SHOULD HELP HIM!!!”
“SEE! HE’S DEAD!”
The policeman turned Sakurai’s body facing on the car. The man not breathed and his eyes were closed. The policeman continued to bring Sakurai from there as fast as he can. Sakurai turned his head and he saw tears still flow on the man cheek although he knew, the man was gone.
‘Thank you.’

Sakurai waited impatiently in front of the emergency room. His family wanted to come to the Hospital after he told them on the phone about the accident, but Sakurai told them that he was alright and he wanted to wait there until he knew the little girl was save. He can’t wait outside the emergency room actually, but he lied to the Doctor that he knew the little girl. Honestly, he felt that he had a responsibility towards the little girl. He doesn’t know why, but he thought he can’t left her, at least till the little girl’s family came to there. Suddenly, the doctor came out from the emergency room.
“Are you one of her family member?”
“Y-yes I am. Is she alright?”
“She had lost a lot of blood.”
“Blood?”
“But our Hospital lacks of her blood type...”
Sakurai waited for the doctor to continue his words.
“What I’m trying to say is...I’m so sorry but...she will die if-”
“I can donate my blood to her.”
“No, you can’t. You still teenage and-”
Sakurai knelt down. He will never let the little girl die. Maybe this is the only way to make him stop blaming himself after he failed to save the little girl’s father.
“I beg you, sensei...please.”
“Alright-alright. I understand. Please don’t do this.”
The doctor helped Sakurai to stand up.
“What is your blood type?”

He still felt a bit dizzy after he gave some amount of his blood to the little girl. The doctor managed to save her but, there’s a chance she will be in a coma state for a long time. Sakurai silently sat beside the little girl’s bed. He remembered the doctor had told him before that she will recover faster if he kept talked to her.
‘It’s a good way to help any coma patient to recover faster.’
So, he moves closer to her.
“Hello sweetie, my name is Sakurai Sho, nice to meet you.”

“I know you can hear me. Don’t be afraid, I will always beside you.”

Sakurai came to the Hospital everyday and talked to the unconscious little girl about various things. He talked about the weather, his personal life and sometimes about unnecessary things. He also gave the little girl some motivation words. Sometimes Sakurai need to sneak into the Hospital after the doctor knew that he had no connection at all with the little girl. What he knew about the little girl was only her name, Kazuhiko Shoko.
“Ne, Shoko-chan, ni-chan remember something.”
(. . .)
“Ni-chan’s friend told ni-chan before that one of the good ways to make our friendship with someone became stronger is by sharing good and bad points to each other.”
(. . .)
“So, ni-chan will tell Shoko-chan about it. First is...ni-chan’s good point.”
Sakurai coughed a bit before continued his talked.
“Ni-chan is intelligent, like to help the others, really good in talking, a fast runner and very fluent in English.”
He smirked a bit before he continued.
“Well, ni-chan bad point is...promised ni-chan that Shoko-chan will not laugh okay?”
He took a very deep inhaled.
“Ni-chan is...well hate horror movies, really hates bugs, can’t cook, bad in sport and...ni-chan will become depress when it’s come to...ni-chan’s sloping shoulder...”
His face became red because of embarrassments.
“However Shoko-chan, education is important in our life, so Shoko-chan must never give up no matter what Shoko-chan weakness is, okay?”

“Shoko-chan...ni-chan will back to Tokyo today...”
(. . .)
“Ni-chan really sorry about Shoko-chan’s Papa...”
(. . .)
“Please forgive ni-chan...”
(. . .)
“Ni-chan hope ni-chan can stay here and become Shoko-chan’s new Papa...”
He gave out a stressful sigh.
“But...ni-chan can’t replace Shoko-chan’s Papa...ni-chan doesn’t good enough to be Shoko-chan’s Papa...and...ni-chan will not meet with Shoko-chan again.”
He kissed the little girl face. He moves to the door and stared her for the last time.
“Goodbye Shoko-chan.”

“So, the truth is...you had met her before.”
Sakurai gives Ninomiya a nod.
“Did you realize she is Kazuhiko Shoko when we met her before?”
“No. I never saw Shoko-chan in genki state before. So, I don’t realize it.”
“Didn’t you realize Kazuhiko Haruto-san face and your face were alike?”
Sakurai shook his head.
“Why you never told us about this?”
“I don’t want to disturbed your vacation...It happened on summer so-”
“No. I’m asking you, why you NEVER told us about this before?”
“I’d tried, but...it’s hard to say it...I’m sorry...”
“It’s alright.”
Sakurai, Ninomiya and Matsumoto are soaked by the heavy rain. It’s almost midnight when they back to Tokyo after visited Kazuhiko Haruto’s grave in Aomori. Ninomiya and Matsumoto know that Ohno, Aiba and Shoko-chan are worrying about them, but it’s hard to explain about what had happened on the phone. So, they make a decision to tell Ohno and Aiba about the whole thing when they return to Aiba’s home later. As they getting near to the house, Sakurai’s steps become slowly and finally stop.
“Sho-kun, are you alright?”
“Everything will be alright, trust us.”
Sakurai still refuse to move. He keeps thinking about Shoko-chan’s mother words and he worried if he and Shoko-chan will be apart again. That’s true, he doesn’t have enough money to raise Shoko-chan and he can’t adopt her as he still underage. But, his biggest worry is he fails to make Shoko-chan happy if...just if Shoko-chan lives with him. Besides, the model was right, people will look down at Shoko-chan if they know a teenage like him is Shoko-chan’s father.
“Why are you guys standing here?”
Ohno and Aiba suddenly appear in front of them. The two guys move closer to them to cover them from the heavy rain with their umbrella. They became worried when their friends still not return home or at least contact them after they went to the Hospital. They want to find them at the Hospital before they found the three guys are standing in front of the apartment.
“Where is Shoko-chan? Is she alright?”
“She’s sleeping and she’s alright.”
“What’s wrong? You guys will got a fever if you still standing here.”
Sakurai still doesn’t want to move. Aiba moves closer to Sakurai.
“Sho-chan, Shoko-chan is worried about you. You is her Papa and you should-”
Aiba still not finish with his words when Sakurai suddenly grab his collar and stomp him into the wall.
“I’m worried about her too, but WHAT CAN I DO!!”
“Sho-kun, let him go!”
“Calm down Sho!”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“I’m so sorry Aiba-chan...”
“No need to apologize, I know you didn’t mean to do it.”
Suddenly, Shoko-chan comes out from the bedroom.
“Papa, okaeri !”
She hugs Sakurai and looks toward Matsumoto and Ninomiya.
“Okaeri, ni-chan!”
“Tadaima.”
“Sorry Shoko-chan, did we talking too loud?”
The little girl shook her head.
“Shoko-chan scare to sleep alone...”
“Come Shoko-chan, Kazu ni-chan will sleep with Shoko-chan tonight.”
“’Jan Ken Pon’?”
“Ni-chan won it.”
Ninomiya walks toward the little girl and hold her hand. They didn’t do the ‘Jan Ken Pon’ actually, but he doesn’t want Shoko-chan to listen their conversation. They walk to the bedroom before the little girl suddenly stop.
“Chotto matte.”
She walks to Sakurai and kiss his cheek.
“Oyasuminasai Papa!”
Shoko-chan run back to Ninomiya and wave to her ni-chan.
“Oyasuminasai ni-chan!”
“Oyasumi Shoko-chan.”
They wave back to her. Tears flow on Sakurai cheek after the door closed.
“Why these only happen when I start to love Shoko-chan?”
Aiba hugs him, tries to calm him down.
“Why?”
Sakurai hugs Aiba tightly and start crying on Aiba’s shoulder. Ohno and Matsumoto just keep silent because they know...they can’t answer Sakurai’s question.
“I think I can live together with her...”
Tears flow on his cheek...again.
“I really want Shoko-chan to be my daughter...”
Ohno, Aiba and Matsumoto almost crying before-
“I must let her go.”
They shock with Sakurai’s words.
“I must...let her go...again.”
