Disclaimer: I just wrote the plot.
Summary: What you're going to do when you received a message from Shinigami that said you're joining their game? 25 people including Sakurai Sho, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari and Matsumoto Jun try their best to survive the game for the rest three days or they will lost their lives in the most fatal accident they ever thought. Will they manage to? And why Ohno Satoshi who has nothing to do with it tries to rescue every victims that he found?
Warnings: This story full with blood, murderer and plot that might be unsuitable for you who hate this kind of stuff. For you who ever read my fics before, THIS STORY is different from what I ever wrote.
“Aiba-san!”
Ohno and Sho still continuously knock the door which is now preventing them from move ahead. However, no matter how hard they try to open it, it wasn’t work at all. Slowly, thick black smoke comes to fill the room from under the door.
“Ohno-sama, let’s leave now. Your house is going to burn.”
“Then use your power to open up this door!”
Lord Yamashita keeps silence by it. Then, a loud crush sound come from the only window there which made by no one, but him.
“If you want to stay stubborn, think about the guy with you now. That’s the maximum tolerance I can do for you.”
Hearing that, Ohno abruptly stops from hitting the door. He then turns to Sho beside him and slowly clenches his hand into fist. His guardian was right.
“Sakurai-san, follow me.”
Sho confusedly blinks when he saw Ohno just steadily leave the place. As he is still worried with Aiba’s situation, he however didn’t move even an inch and continues to do as much as he could to break the door. All of sudden, another explode sound comes from the other side of the door that makes Ohno immediately grabs Sho’s arm to the already wide open window before pushes him out from there. As his house just a 1 storey house, both of them manages to leave the place safely without any injured.
“But, Aiba-san?!”
Sho worriedly asks it after Ohno brought him to the safe distance from the already burn high house. Sound of small fire explodes and things burnt clearly play in their ears. However, both of them couldn’t do anything anymore but watching. Slowly then, Ohno falls on his knees and clench his hand.
“…This is my fault.”
“What?”
Confusedly, Sho keeps his eyes on Ohno. He then immediately looks up when he heard a crack sound comes from the main door.
“Aiba-san!”
Ohno immediately brings his gaze up. He couldn’t believe with what he is witnessing even though he knows it is real. Meanwhile, Aiba just weakly walks out from the house and steps toward them with his body swinging as he feels completely dizzy for inhaled too much smoke inside before. As fast as they can, both Ohno and Sho immediately drag him away to the safer place before help him to sit and breathe properly on the ground.
“You’re so strong Aiba-san. Keep on breathing.”
He said while his hand moves on the guy’s back for encourage him to breathe. Aiba didn’t say anything but panting with his eyes still looking on the ground below him.
“Are you okay?”
No answers.
“I promise that I’ll not let this kind of things happen again. So don’t give up.”
Still no answer from the panting guy. All the time, Aiba just blinks his eyes to regulate the oxygen amount in his body again.
“Aiba-san?”
Aiba immediately looks up when Sho suddenly shook his shoulder. He just frowns when both guys in front him worriedly stare at him before return their gaze to each other. All of sudden, Ohno loudly claps his hands right beside Aiba’s ears; trying to confirm about something that he is hoping badly didn’t happen. However, Aiba’s reaction less gives a hard thump inside his chest and Sho.
“Aiba-san, can you hear me?”
Sho asks with his fingers snapping next to the other’s one ear. Unfortunately, Aiba just blinks confusedly on him before turns to Ohno with the same stare.
“Don’t tell me the explosion makes his hearing function…doesn’t working anymore.”
Aiba still beams them with his questioning stare. Slowly, Ohno closes his eyes tightly before stressfully wipes his face with his both palms.
“…Oh, God.”
“We will take her body now.”
Nino replies the hospital’s staffs with a nod. His eye didn’t leave the already covered body as the staffs lift it from the rooftop with nurses follow them behind. Mountains of guilty carve deeply inside him even though he never wish the woman will die ‘because’ of them. As he slowly brings his gaze away from the already open door, he turns to the two siblings who are not far from the place he is standing at. He still remembers that the older sister told him before that after everything about the dead body settle, she had something to ask him and his brother. So, he slowly steps toward them before stops; not so close, yet not so far from them.
“…They’d bring her body away.”
However, still no one says anything. Awkwardly, Nino bites his lower lip with his eye worriedly stare at the two siblings in front him. The two of them meanwhile just stood face to face without their eyes never meet each other. Feel uneasy with the current situation, Nino slowly opens his mouth.
“Maybe…you guys need some time for talk. I’ll take my leave then.”
“No. Stay.”
Hesitantly, the teacher freeze. He wasn’t sure if it was a right decision, but to take his leave also somehow rude as the lady in front is few years older than him. Finally, Jun cross his arms with a sigh and looks up on his sister.
“I thought you want to say something?”
“Why did she try to kill both of you?”
“….It’s none of your business.”
Impatiently, she returns her brother stare.
“It IS my business! You almost dead in front of me! Do you know how worried I am?!”
“I am not a kid anymore! SO STOP TREATS ME LIKE A ONE!”
“Jun! I-”
“YOU JUST BURDENING ME! DON’T YOU EVER REALIZE IT?!”
SLAP!
Tears flow down from the sister’s eyes. As she pulls her hand away from Jun, she quickly finds the way out from the rooftop and harshly slams the door close. For a while, the place was surrounded with silence. Nino just keeps his mouth lock until he finally sure enough that the other one was already calm down enough.
“Even you want to avoid her from been dragged along with our problem, it’s not a proper way wasn’t it?”
Jun didn’t say anything. He just swallows hardly before leans on the rooftop side with another heavy sigh. He really didn’t mean it, but for the sake of his sister’s safety, he doesn’t think he had any choice anymore. Plus, all his wounds and bruises are far from recovered yet and even the other guy with him now is badly injured for almost half of his face. Even to save their own lives they have almost 0 percentage confident, what more to protect his dearest sister just if he tell her about how dangerous the game is?
“Were us…just killed that lady?”
Nino startled by the question.
“…I don’t know if this just an excuse, but…we never hope it to happen right?”
Jun sighs.
“At least, what we can do now is leave this building so no one is going to lose their life again. We can’t give those Shinigami to play with human’s life anymore.”
“That’s reminding me. He ever said before that he is no longer human right?”
Nino frowns.
“And they have also said about ‘apprentice’. I wonder if the two things have anything to do with each other.”
“…Or maybe, long time before they’re also a living human like us. But after they were dead, they become Shinigami and need another human or someone who they call as ‘apprentice’ to replace them.”
“For what?”
The two guys look at each other; completely puzzle with the current situation they are facing on. Soon, something wet falls on their face.
“It’s raining.”
Both of them look up on the dark, sorrow sky above immediately. Something might be happen again if they stay still.
“Let’s get out from here.”

Ohno watches the heavy rain fall on his car’s front mirror quietly. As he puts his hands on the steering wheel in front him, he turns to Sho beside him before checks for Aiba at the back seat. Both guys are sleeping soundly; probably tired with what just happened to them since yesterday. While he brings his eyes to the front again, he lets a heavy sigh out. Even though he had promise them that he is going to help them to survive the sadist game, he is actually have no idea with what he should do. It wasn’t an easy thing to protect them especially on day two.
‘…Can I really do this?’
He started to doubt himself. Sound of Sho suddenly fixes his position beside makes him immediately looks at the guy in sympathy. The sweater that he found at the back seat before definitely can’t save the guy from the cold night, what more to cover his injured body even though the guy kept saying ‘it’s better than nothing’. And for Aiba, even until now he couldn’t guess what is inside the guy’s mind when he just calmly accepted the fact that he is now deaf. That’s why Ohno is rather to choose for other place for a shelter instead of staying inside his late father’s old car which was parked not far from his house’s location. But considering about how risky it might be for the two guys, he had no choice.
TAP TAP
Sound of raindrop getting louder in his ears. As the sights of continuously lightning brighten the dark night sky, Ohno gently leans on the seat.
“Yamashita.”
“I’m here, Ohno-sama.”
Between the chains of endless lightning, Ohno could see his guardian behind; sitting on the other side of the seat where Aiba is sleeping on.
“Why you didn’t let me commit suicide on that time?”
The guardian frowns.
“If you didn’t cut the rope, I must be already died and you’ll free from being a Shinigami.”
“I’m already free now.”
“Yeah, but you need to be my guardian since it was the ‘price’ if I succeed to survive right? To protect someone who you desperately want to kill once before, wasn’t it too much to bear?”
Silence.
“Do you feel sympathy because I lost the three persons that I love most right in front of my eyes?”
“…And because of the same cause.”
Ohno frowns.
“Your parents were died also because of this game.”
“What?”
Somehow, Ohno feels like his old wound bleeding again. It was too much.
“…I-I still don’t get it. Even it’s so, why don’t you just let me die? As a Shinigami, you suppose to have no mercy right?”
The chuckle from the other one makes Ohno completely confused.
“Human is a really interesting creature, Ohno-sama. Full of feelings, desires and hesitates which something that me as a ‘real’ Shinigami never know. At first, I thought every human will do anything for their own goodness and being selfish in no matter situation, but…”
He returns Ohno’s gaze.
“…that girl makes me wonder until now. Why she desperately wants to protect you; who is obviously dangerous to get closer with especially after she found out you’re involved in this game? I want to know why-”
“So you let me survive and by that way you can always stay beside me; observing the creatures which you say as ‘selfish’?”
“Yeah.”
And it was the guardian’s turn to frown when Ohno suddenly chuckles cynically.
“You’re saying WE are selfish, but can’t you see a real Shinigami like you who did not exist from dead human’s soul is also selfish?”
“What? Why?”
“You ‘save’ me just for the sake of YOUR curiosity. What’s the different between you and us then?”
None of them says anything after it. Quietly, Ohno just continue watching the raindrop in front him as his hands tightly grip the steering wheel.

The chill heavy rain outside slowly regain Aiba from the deep sleep. As he opens his eyes and took a glance outside, he lets a sigh out by the sight of never stopping rain. They probably will be staying in the car a bit more as he knows the car is out of fuel. However, the coldness of his surrounded now is completely unbearable until his finger couldn’t feel anything that he touches anymore. Realize that he had no other choice, he just rubs his two palms while slowly bring his gaze to the rare mirror in front; only seeing the two guys are now already fall into their sleep. He just quietly watches their faces until the conversation with Ohno’s guardian in the house before popped into his mind.
‘…He did everything only for his Sir safety?
As he leans on the seat behind, few wrinkles form on his forehead. Somewhat, there is something not right with the ‘creature’ named Yamashita words.
‘Even if he wanted to protect Ohno-san, what was the rationality of the action? After all, Ohno-san has nothing to do with this game at all.’
And another possibility comes into his mind.
‘And even he is, he doesn’t need to survive this along with me and Sakurai-san since he wasn’t one of the message receivers.’
Lightning suddenly brightens the dark surrounding.
‘So…Ohno-san needs to be protecting from what?’
His mind still tries it hard to seek for the unsolved answer. All of sudden, another flash occurs that makes Aiba stunned by the sight he saw from the front mirror.
‘A man?’
However, the surrounding suddenly turn to dark again. Aiba hurriedly moves between the two front seats that Ohno and Sho are sleeping on when another flash occurs. The act however was obviously useless as he couldn’t find the figure of a man with black mask that he saw before anywhere.
‘Where’s he?’
Gradually, feeling of uneasiness grows inside him. He immediately moves to the mirrors beside him before turns to the back side for looks out for the figure of the man again. After all, what kind of people is going to stand under the freezing heavy rain in the middle of night?
“Aiba-san?”
He startled when someone suddenly pats his shoulder.
“Sorry for surprising you. Something is wrong?”
Aiba blinks. Remembering the guy’s deafness, Ohno removes his hand and lifts his knees on the sitting place. Just when he wants to completely faces his body with the leaning place so he can has a better sight on Aiba, something suddenly falls above that makes the whole car shakes hardly. Immediately, Sho wakes up by the loud fall sound and confusedly looks at Ohno beside him.
“What happen?”
The older man didn’t say anything, but puts his index finger in front his lips. Still wondering, Sho just loyally follows his order. For a while, everything was completely silence with only flash of lightning and thunders sound enliven the cold night. Remembering with what he just seen before, Aiba tries to move closer and explain it to them, but stops when something shiny swiftly emerge the car roof above him.
“AIBA-SAN!”
The blade stops right in front the deaf guy’s eyes which make their heartbeat rate increase immediately. They never thought they will receive another attack when Ohno is still with them. For a while they are too shock to take any act until Sho accidently seen the small Kanji character on the sword from the flash of light outside.
“That’s same with the one that used to stab me before!”
Ohno turns to him in disbelief. As the blade suddenly was pulled up, the car shakes again which proves that there is someone moving above them.
“Get out, NOW!”
Few minutes passed, but both Nino and Jun still couldn’t find their right time to sneak out from the hospital’s gate. One of the guards is sitting in front of the door which makes their chance of leaving lower.
‘This is bad.’
Unexpectedly, sound of siren all of sudden slowly approaches the area. So, as soon as an ambulance came to pass the guards, they immediately took the chance to storm out from there and run as fast as they can away. Later soon, they finally saw lights from the city’s buildings not afar.
“Wait. Wait.”
Nino abruptly stops when he saw Jun suddenly bends down while holding his knees. The guy’s hands were shivering as he tries to catch all his breath back.
“I feel dizzy.”
He immediately crouches down. As his hand touch his bandaged head, Nino finally realizes how bad Jun’s injured was. His head must be shaking too much when they are running aside of the live or death situation that they just faces on the rooftop before. However, he also realizes that it’s still dangerous to stay there considering about how easily they will be ‘attack’ by the Shinigami and how damp their body because of the current heavy rain. Immediately, he reaches for Jun’s arm and supports him into the convenient store nearby.
“We need to buy something. Can you still hold on for a while?”
“…Yeah.”
He replies as he lifts his hand weakly from the other one shoulder. Both of them then separate to look for anything that might be useful for them; ignoring the other customers there weird stares. Nino was reaching for an eye patch packet when sound of the automatic door open makes him turn to the entrance immediately.
“Welco-!”
BANG!
The shopkeeper’s body falls immediately on the cold floor, followed by terrified screams from the customers.
“DON’T MOVE!”
Everyone freeze. The mask guy meanwhile immediately aims his gun to anyone who he thinks dare to take any act which makes all the victims there tremblingly hands up. He then suddenly grabs for an economy bag nearby and throws it to Nino who is the nearest one to him.
“PUT EVERYONE MONEY AND ANYTHING EXPENSIVE INSIDE THIS BAG! NO ONE WILL TRY TO BE A HERO HERE OR I WILL BLOW THAT PERSON’S HEAD! GOT IT?!”
Sound of sobs from female customers there gradually clear by the shouts. Meanwhile, Nino and Jun just exchange glance with each other; completely stress with the unwanted situation they are facing now.
