Disclaimer: I just wrote the plot.
Summary: What you're going to do when you received a message from Shinigami that said you're joining their game? 25 people including Sakurai Sho, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari and Matsumoto Jun try their best to survive the game for the rest three days or they will lost their lives in the most fatal accident they ever thought. Will they manage to? And why Ohno Satoshi who has nothing to do with it tries to rescue every victims that he found?
Warnings: This story full with blood, murderer and plot that might be unsuitable for you who hate this kind of stuff. For you who ever read my fics before, THIS STORY is different from what I ever wrote.
Silence surrounds both Nino and Jun as the elevator that they are using slowly moves down to the ground floor. Only the sound from Nino’s phone radio can be heard inside it which is now broadcasting about the bomber’s incident live from the actual site as their mind totally bothered by the kid’s words back then. However, compared to his emotion, Jun is actually feels much worried with Nino’s state. He can see clearly the guy is spacing out. Besides, the guy is also the one who was came up with the idea to use the elevator instead of the emergency stairs even though the probability that they might be killed is lesser compare to the one they are using now. Soon, the elevator finally reaches the ground floor and the two guys immediately storm out; readily to get out from the building.
“Wait!”
They stop abruptly. Slowly, the chief of the hospital comes to approach them.
“Thank you for saving us.”
He smiles. It however doesn’t put the two guys in ease.
“You guys have saved all people in this building especially those innocent kid patients.”
“No, it’s fi-”
“Sir, do you believe that it’s better if all of the message receivers to come and show themselves like the bomber want to?”
The words surprise Jun. Nino meanwhile just ignores him and waits the doctor to answer his question.
“Well…to be honest, I feel like they need to.”
“But why?”
“If their act will kill innocent lives especially children, I believe they suppose to show themselves instead of hiding for saving their own life.”
Jun lost of words. Half of his heart said what the older man said is right, but at the same time he also feels it is unfair. All the Shinigami’s message receivers are actually have no choice but to get along with the game whether they want it or not. Why there’s no one understand about it?
“I see.”
Without wasting his time anymore, Nino immediately moves to the building’s automatic door and steps out from there. Jun who was surprised by the other one actions clumsily bows to the chief of the hospital and runs to follow Nino from behind.
“They don’t understand about our situation. Don’t think so much about it.”
He said as he finally walks side by side with Nino. The empty side road with no one can be seen anywhere didn’t bother the two guys at all.
“You know how hard we’d try our best until this far. So don’t let your emotion to control your mind now.”
Jun’s words however just make Nino to feel more irritated and start to walk faster than before.
“Remember that last night you told me that we never hope someone will lose their life because of us? I know it’s hard to change that kind of mindset, but I believe it’s not our fault that this thing happens. Plus, you also said it’s not a right time for us to give up now right?”
All of sudden, the eye patch guy stops. He then turns to look at Jun; beaming him with his angry expression.
“CAN’T YOU SHUT UP?!”
Jun startled by the mad shout. However, Nino didn’t bother by it at all and madly kicks off the rubbish bin near him. He was completely angry and just continuously stomping and kicking the mess in front him with all his might. Meanwhile, Jun just silently stares him until the guy finally stops while breathing hardly.
“Such group of selfish people! I don’t get it why they just think about their lives! Can’t they see the idiot bomber is desperately wants us to show up so he can kill us?! It’s like we have no right to stay alive too!”
The other guy didn’t say anything. Full of madness, Nino angrily roars before throws his phone hardly on the ground. As he stares his phone while panting, he slowly tightens his hand into a fist.
“I pissed off with this. Just let them win then.”
“What?”
“I give up. If that mad bomber wants us so much, then I’ll go and see him right now. Just let he blows up my brain.”
“Are you out of your mind?! You’re the one who told me to not give up at the first place! Just cut the crap now!”
“I’m not out of my mind! Can’t you see how they’re being so prejudice on us just because we got the message?! We had watch in the television how sadist the bomber killed that lady and how the others acted when they found someone with the fire mark! They prefer to dirty their hands by send us off and enjoy the money they’ll get rather than THINK TWICE about OUR LIFE! IT WAS ALREADY PROVED ENOUGH HOW CHEAP OUR LIFE IS IN THEIR EYES!!!”
The area echoes with Nino’s shouts. For a while, none of them say anything and just returns each other look which extremely full of tense.
“…So, by show up yourself and let the criminal to kill you will solve this matter?”
Harshly, Jun suddenly grabs the other one’s shirt.
“You will only make the Shinigami laugh on you now! That’s what he really wants you to do so you’ll die and replace his place!”
“Then let it be!”
“Why are you so down all of sudden?!! Have you forgotten what you did tell me all this time; to not give up and let the Shinigami to play with human’s life?!!”
As the place now echoes with his shout, Jun furiously tries to regulate his breath back. Nino meanwhile just stays silent and looks on the ground for a while. Believe that the guy in front him is thinking, Jun slowly loosens his grip from Nino’s shirt. Unexpectedly, a hard punch suddenly hits his face and immediately makes him moves back.
“And you, why are so enthusiastic want to live now?”
He then returns Jun’s frown with a glare.
“As I thought you really wanted to die last night and said you just a burden for your sister right? What make you suddenly change your mind today?”
Jun flinches by his words.
“And what the heck with the parents killer stuff?”
Jun’s expression changes immediately. He seems totally bothered by Nino’s unexpected question and just gritted his teeth stressfully. Sighting the change of the other one, Nino finally realizes with what he just said. Feeling of guilty gradually grows inside him. Everything was completely in pitch silence for a while until they heard loud sound of explosion from their place, followed by one and another. Soon, sounds of people screams and running are getting louder from Nino’s already cracking phone on the ground.
“Seems, they’re not after us.”
He said while took a glance on the rear-view mirror before brings his gaze to look at the old man beside him. Somehow, he feels that they’re quite lucky since those crowd before didn’t decide to follow them which gives them chance to leave safely the place.
“Are you okay, sir?”
No answer.
“Don’t worry. They are not after us.”
The old man still not says anything, but just tightly hugs the bag pack in his arms. Now, Sho starts to doubt whether the man was also deaf by those continues horrible plan from Shinigami like Aiba or not.
“…I should let him to kill me before.”
His sudden words make Sho immediately stops the car.
“Please don’t say that. He has no right to do that.”
“…If my daughter died because of something to do with the message then…just let me to die because of it too.”
“Sir…”
“Besides, I can completely understand how his feeling is. He also lost his daughter because of the message like me.”
Sho bites his lower lip stressfully. As he saw the man moves to hug the bag pack in his arms tighter, a curiosity about what inside it lead Sho to finally politely ask the other one.
“May I know…what is inside the bag?”
The man just silences himself for a while.
“…My daughter’s ashes.”
“S-Sorry?”
“She died yesterday. I bring her ash with me because her last wish is for me to let her flow with her favourite river.”
The younger one becomes speechless.
“…I’m sorry to hear that.”
The old man however didn’t replies him with anything, which makes Sho to feel more guilty than he suppose to. It however didn’t last long when he suddenly remembers what the man had told him about the reason of his daughter’s death again.
“I’m sorry, but your daughter died after she received the message?”
“…Yes, she is.”
“But the guy said he saw a fire mark on your wrist. Did you have it?”
His heart beat hardly inside his chest. Unfortunately, the answer that he got from the man was something that he really hoping he wouldn’t receive from the other one.
“No.”
Immediately, Sho reaches for the old man’s hands and pulls the sleeve up. He completely shocked and loss of words when he realizes the man has no marks at all showing that the man is actually has nothing to do with the game at all. Recalling with what Ohno’s guardian has said about the effect of staying with someone not involves with the game in day two, Sho clumsily took off his safety belt and slams open the door. After gives a quick shout to the man for lock and drive away from there, he immediately runs as fast as he can to avoid from anything bad happen to the man because of him. Now, he feels stupid for not clearly asks that man about the mark earlier and just bring him along to there. After all, if there’s anything happen to that old man, he knew that he can’t stop from blaming himself.
‘I’m such an idiot!’
As he turns around to see whether he already leave the car far enough, a loud explosion suddenly occurs on the upper side of the building right next it. Sho almost runs and continues to leave the place, but his eyes then caught the sight of the cracking upper side of the building, followed by a large debris slide down from it.
“NO!!!”
He feels like his breath suddenly stops when the large debris fall right on the car; send the ground under him a little shake. Soon, fire slowly starts to burn the vehicle’s body before spread to the all part of it.
‘This is…my fault.’
For a while, Sho just tremblingly watches the red fire. He never expect his intention to help someone will drag to more awful fate to happen. Full of regret, he kneels down on the ground and punches hardly it with a roar.
Everyone close their eyes or cover their ears with their palms when the gun was aimed mere inches from Ohno’s head. The bomber meanwhile just stares Ohno’s face below him with pair of sorrow eyes.
“Shoot him!”
“Wait!”
The elite police stop by his shout. Took it as his chance, Ohno slowly moves his hand to his right pocket; forcing the dangerous criminal to warn him.
“Don’t move!”
However, Ohno didn’t stops and just continue to shove his hand into his pocket.
“Kagami-san?”
The man’s expression changes immediately. Meanwhile, Ohno just determinedly returns the man above him stares.
“Your daughter is…Kagami Naoko right?”
Slowly, the man brings his gun down and stares his victim with pair of disbelieved eyes.
“H-How did you know?”
He almost aims his gun up when he saw Ohno tries to take something out from his pocket. However, Ohno didn’t stops by the man’s precaution act but just continues to shove out something. As he takes out a pink phone with cute decoration on it, he gives it to the bomber with a bitter smile.
“…This phone is belong to Naoko-san, am I right?”
The man’s eyes grow widens. All the witnesses there also fall into a deep silence including Aiba as they couldn’t believe with what just Ohno had with him. Tremblingly, the dangerous man moves to take the phone from Ohno’s hold before brings it closer to his eyes. Indeed. It was his daughter’s phone.
“…W-Why?”
“I’m sorry for bring her phone along with me. I know…I suppose to leave it with her after that…accident.”
The man lost of words. Regretfully, Ohno bites his lower lip before suddenly sits by his knees and bows at the man apologetically. He just remains in that position until he finally heard the man says something.
“Was the black jacket that covered her body was…yours?”
Ohno just stays silence which gives the other one opportunity to continue.
“I’ve heard from the witnesses there that…there’s guy who tried to help her and stay with her until her last breath. Was it you?”
However, Ohno just brings his face down.
“I’m sorry.”
He didn’t say anything anymore. From afar, Aiba just watches Ohno regretfully closes his eyes. He couldn’t hear with what the two men talking about, but looking by Ohno’s face, somehow it makes him realize how much the guy did sacrifice just for saving them who had nothing to do with him at all.
“…Thank you.”
The bowing guy opens his eyes by the two words.
“There’s no reason for me to do this anymore.”
Ohno immediately brings his chin up. Without says anything further, the man slowly turns around and steps away from him with his hand still hold tightly around his dearest daughter’s phone. All eyes and the on rolling cameras just focus on that man; wondering what he is going to do next. However, when the police saw he is approaching his own laptop on the ground, they immediately raise up their guard back.
“Freeze!”
The bomber just ignores it.
“I said; FREEZE!”
He however just continues to walk on which lead all the snipers units on the rooftop to no choice but aim their weapon on the only target.
“Don’t shoot!”
Ohno immediately stood up.
“He wants to switch off the bombs!”
All eyes look at him in disbelieve. Only after the man let go of the gun in his hold, the police finally a bit reassure with what he just said.
Like I expected, you ruin the fun Ohno-sama
The sudden voice comes into Ohno’s ears again. Clumsily, he looks around; trying to find the owner of the voice among the crowd and police.
Means, Kagami Nazoki-san has no use for me anymore, huh?
Ohno immediately turns around. There, he found the spectacles guy before is smiling at him among the floods of curious watchers.
BANG!
A sudden loud shoot surprise all people there. In front of them, the bomber was got a shoot right on the head before his body fell right on his laptop below. Thousands of screams noising the city for a while, followed by chain of explosion sound that come from all around the place. Just in a blink of eyes, the police couldn’t control the situation anymore as the crowd now start to push each other so they can leave the place as soon as they can.
“Ohno-san!”
Doesn’t care with what is happening on his surrounding, Aiba just runs against the flow of people who are now attempting to save their life in front him..
“Ohno-san!”
He screams out for the guy’s name again. However, he still can’t found the guy’s presence anywhere. The crowd now starts to loosen up and almost left only him and the two death bodies on the road.
‘Where’s he seriously?’
Suddenly, he heard sound of someone laughs.
So, you’re one of the competitors of this game, huh?
Aiba clumsily turns around. For a while he just confusedly returns the spectacles guy calm stare before he finally gets who the guy actually is.
“You’re…Shinigami?”
The guy just smiles.
It’s a misfortunate you’re not my apprentice or I’ll kill you right here
Aiba’s feel his hand slightly trembling by it. Slowly, he backs off for every step the guy took to approach him. Out of his aware, someone is already standing behind him while holding highly a steel bat.
TANG!
The empty area echoed with a loud impact followed by the sound of Aiba’s body falls on the road.
‘Who was…’
Between his unstable consciousnesses, Aiba tries to look for the attacker’s face above him. His eyes was gradually becomes blur as the face of the attacker comes to his sight.
“…Ohno-san?”
However the other one didn’t reply him at all. He just returns Aiba painfully stares with a blank one as he let go the steel bat from his hand. Slowly, the spectacles guy before approaches them and beams Aiba with another smile. The already half conscious guy however couldn’t do anything but painfully glare on him.
Now Sakurai Sho-san is alone and depress like I planned. Means, it’s a right time for us to go and ‘fetch’ him right?
He said as he turns to look at Ohno beside him. Hearing that, Aiba finally remembers that Sho’s Shinigami is actually a man. He forcefully tries to move himself when he saw the Shinigami and Ohno are starting to take their leave from there. The act however just makes he feels dizzier and weaker.
‘Ohno-san…why?’
Slowly, his view turns to black. As the deaf guy finally completely lost his conscious, sound of footsteps slowly come to approach him from a far.
>Seriously, this is the hardest chapter for me till this far. I was completely stuck and keep thinking if I should...err give up. But actually this kind of thing is normal since I already through it when I wrote my two previous series fanfiction (hehehe). But at least now, I already update a new one! ;) Arigatou for reading~
