Summary: Despite of government 'Project Eternity' declaration, 5 genius boys were saved after their parents managed to hide their real intelligence. 10 years later, they witness their parents get caught in misunderstand and aim to save them.
Yet, they never thought it will drag to something serious.
A/N: I'm sorry for every error and mistakes.
With the help from Aiba restaurant’s worker, the five of them safely arrive in of front of Sakurai’s residence. They quickly run toward the house and get inside as soon as they dropped off. Yet, they’re shock to see the house already turn to bad mess with stuffs scatter on the living room’s floor. Even Sho’s father paperwork can be seen everywhere.
“Now I’m not sure if they really just ‘took’ my parents away.”
“Yeah. It’s more like someone breaks into here.”
Jun then bends down to pick one of the papers under them. However, he found the content only relates to Sho’s father job.
“If it’s not because of what your dad had done for Cool, there must be something else why the government forces your mom and dad to follow them. Any idea, Sho-chan?”
Sho just shakes his head.
“Let’s start looking for it then. Maybe we can find a way to save our parents if we found something here.”
Agree with the idea, all of them start to move further into the house. The five of them split into two groups with Aiba and Jun assign to look for any related stuff at the living room while Ohno, Sho and Nino move to other place in the house include the basement’s reading room. For a long moment, the house only covers by silent as everyone busy with their own task.
“Jun?”
The chemist hums in response. He turns to Aiba while his hand now digs under the living room’s couch.
“I think there’s something wrong with what your dad tried to tell us last time.”
Jun at the same time feels his fingers touching something hard.
“What do you mean?”
“I think your dad tried to tell us not to come here.”
His words make Jun stop and frowningly turn to him.
“He said that?”
“I’m not sure. Cause, when I think about it again-”
Sound of vehicles enter the residence’s gate cuts him. Swiftly, both guys run toward the window to see who is coming there. At first they’re confuse to see a van and a truck are approaching, but as soon as their eyes catch the glimpse of government’s logo on the side of it, a realization finally hit them. Immediately, Aiba and Jun speed up from the living room to look for their friends. They move to almost every room of the first floor until they finally found their friends, still busily looking and digging inside the house basement reading room. Ohno, Sho and Nino meanwhile frown to see the two guys are panting tiredly outside the reading room’s door.
“People from government are here! We need to hide!”
“What? But why they come here?”
“Let’s just hide for now!”
Sound of running steps already approaching them from afar. Aiba and Jun immediately run toward the other three to drag them out from there, but before they could do anything, a soldier complete with gasmask and goggle suddenly appears in front of the door.
“I FOUND TEENAGERS HERE!”
They surprise when the man without hesitant lift his rifle toward them.
“Let’s hide behind the desk!”
With all their might, the five schoolboys hurriedly run toward the only working desk there. Their action almost makes them to lose their life when the soldier suddenly pulls his rifle’s trigger, sending them hundreds of deathly bullets. In a blink of eyes, the entire reading room turn to noise by sound of gunshots and breaking glass which make the five poor guys turn to pale and move to shut both their ears and eyes by reflex. Only after half of minute later the gunshots suddenly stop, giving them some time to breathe properly and calm down their fast heartbeat.
Yet, they by chance hear the soldier who just tried to kill them is talking with someone else.
“How many of them?”
“5.”
“Clean up their trace.”
The hiding guys look at each other. A second later, the frightful bullets rain start all over again, causing the poor guys flinch whenever they hear bullets emerge into the wood desk that their hiding at with some of it fly to the trophies and medals that place in the wall cupboard in front them. Now, unknown numbers of soldiers are trying to kill them. Trapping with such terrible situation makes Sho decides to negotiate with the soldiers. He however doesn’t have a chance to shout for the other side’s attention when a large glass which is covering his father’s favorite books on the bookshelf suddenly breaks and almost falls right above them.
“We’re going to die if this keeps on going!”
“STOP IT RASCALS!”
Unfortunately, the soldiers just ignore them. The five guys now already reach their limit. Sho then immediately shifts to look for something useful inside the desk’s drawers behind him and hurriedly opens it one by one. Yet, nothing useful can be found every time he checks inside which makes his heart pound getting harder of worry. Just when he almost gives up, he tremblingly reaches for the last drawer and suddenly stops. He frowns when he found a key is hanging to the last drawer’s holder which as much as he remembers always had been locked properly by his father.
Ignoring the fact, Sho quickly opens it. To his surprise, he found a silver gun is neatly place inside it. The moment he almost grabs for it however, he abruptly stops.
‘…Must I?’
Now, he tore between the facts of being killed and dead or killed and carried the guilty for his entire life. Hesitance clearly show on Sho’s face until his childhood memory suddenly floods into his mind.
“Listen here, Sho. Firstly you need to unlock the gun before you pull the trigger. The bullet won’t come out if you didn’t unlock the safety first.”
The 10 years old Sho nodded. He then tighter his grip around his father’s silver gun with its mouth aim on the red target hundred meters from them. A minute passed after that, but there’s still nothing hit the target nor happened to Sho.
“Can you do it?”
The son just chewed his lower lip hesitantly. Sighting it, the high rank policeman gently pushed his son’s arm lower.
“If you’re not sure, drop the gun. You might live with regret if you still force yourself to do.”
Hearing that, Sho confusedly looked at his father.
“Then, how you could shoot someone?”
Sho frowned when his father curved with smiled. Soon, he felt a pat on his head.
“Cause I’ve a lot of people I want to protect. So I know I’ll have no regret on my action.”
“Sho?! Are you okay?!”
Nino and his other friends already stare him worriedly. Sho then immediately spins his body to face them, causing the four guys flinch in surprise to see the weapon in their friend’s grip.
“Why are you holding a gun?!”
Ohno shout full volume to fight the gunshot’s noise. Sho however just suddenly close his eyes and take a deep breath. He then brings his gaze back to the gun in his hand, determinedly pulls the gun’s safety lock before turns to his friends again.
“Masaki! Can you count how many of them by the sound?!”
“Eh?”
Aiba blinks. He however doesn’t objecting it. Thoughtfully, the cheerful guy purses his lips and tries to focus on the noisy overlapping bullets sound. Only after a moment later he finally looks at the other one again.
“3!”
Sho sighs in relief.
“Great.”
After calming himself down, Sho leans closer with the drawer behind them and focuses on his surroundings. Using the broken glass that scatters all around them as the rare mirror to look for the soldiers’ reflection, he exhales to calm down himself. Now, he can calculate the right distance, angle and speed perfectly.
“34 degrees for 11 o’clock. 58 for 12 one and 77 for 2. 66 and quarter for third target. 5 to 7 milliseconds in sum. Just if I can’t estimate their bullet protections’ thickness perfectly…”
“What?”
Nino besides him frowns. Sho however just keeps his eyes on the reflection, trying to find the death spot of the intruders. With the armies’ body cover with bulletproof clothes, gas mask and infrared goggle on head, it makes a bit hard for him since he only can target one limited expose place which is head. The other four guys next to him on the other hand still watch him confusedly. Later, they finally grasp what their friend is actually thinking. However, it’s all already too late when Sho suddenly jumps from their hiding place and starts returning the shoot; almost giving his friends heart attack by the daring act.
“SHO!”
Yet, something unexpected happened.
3 bullets fall on the floor under Sho and there is no more sound come from the heartless attacker.
It’s all silent. Totally worry with the sudden quietness, the four of them get up at a same time from the hiding place and speedily approach their standing friend. Beyond their expectation, they found Sho is safe without any injure.
“Sho? Are you okay?”
Sho just replies him with a smile before turns to look back at the already lying motionless bodies several meters in front them. His friends conversely jaw hanging by it.
“H-How you’ve got to shoot them exactly with only 3 bullets?”
“I guess mathematics and gun are best combination.”
He answers while locking the gun back. His friends on the other hand look at the bodies once more before turn again to Sho.
“Well, I think it’s because you inherits your dad’s skill. There’s nothing to do with that combination.”
“Seems so.”
“That means your dad trained you to use gun? Sound awesome!”
“No. This gun is the first and only weapon my dad had taught me to use. I’ve no idea to use any other gun.”
Nino who doesn’t say anything since while ago turn to Sho in disbelief immediately.
“Don’t tell me you don’t know what this is.”
“A…gun?”
Sho’s answer however gains a sigh from the other one.
“It’s Magnum, a quite easy to handle weapon, yet powerful. I’ve seen it a lot of times in my game before. Your dad taught you to use something amazing, you know.”
Nino’s explanation makes the rest wordless for a while.
“Do you always bring it with you?”
“No. I found it inside the drawer. But…”
The memory of the unlocked drawer comes into his mind. There’s no way his father will forget to lock it since there’s a very important gun inside it. Means, there’s only one possibility left.
“…But?”
“I think…my dad already knew this will happen.”
“Like your dad knew we’ll be attacked inside here?”
Sho nods, but hesitantly. They then startle by a sudden voice from the walkie-talkie that attaches to one of the death bodies hips.
-“Team Delta. Report the situation now.”
The five guys look at each other immediately.
-“Did you kill the witnesses?”
Quickly, Jun moves to the walkie-talkie to switch off the device. Right when he kneels down however group of gasmask soldiers in a same uniform suddenly stormed inside there. With each of the men rifle aim to them, the five guys freeze on the spot.
“You, get up and step aback.”
The captain of the group moves forward to Jun with his rifle aim the other one full of caution. Having no choice, Jun slowly hands up and moves to stand together with his friends behind. Two soldiers then come to examine their teammates’ bodies before look up to their captain and nod. Understand the confirmation, the leader quickly moves to Sho and snatch the Magnum from the younger one’s hand.
“Arrest them.”
XXXXXX-XX-XXXX
Eerie silent fill the five innocent guys’ entire way to the government headquarters. With blindfolded on their eyes, handcuffs around their wrists and soldiers are guarding on left and right, only sound from the moving vehicle and sometimes small stones from road hitting it reassure them that they’re currently still alive. Another several minutes elapse before they feel the van’s speed gradually becomes slow. Not long after, the piece of black cloth which covering their eyes finally disappear.
“Get off.”
Although still trying to adjust with the sudden stabbing brightness around them, the five of them still follow what they’re told. They stunned for a while when they found they’re now standing in front of a huge government building which they just seen in television while ago. Soon, the armies guarding behind force them to move. The five of them just get along with the flow and enter the lobby. Yet, they surprise to found numbers of soldiers are guarding everywhere inside there with few men and women in office clothes working behind their computer at the counter which is located at the opposite direction with the door. CCTV can be found everywhere and there’s a huge map on the one side of the wall. Those working people however just ignore their presence and still can continue with their work.
“Bunch of heartless human.”
“Move!”
The hacker turns to the soldier behind him furiously before walks on to follow his friends in front. Later, they are taking into a room with a chair inside it. After their painful handcuffs have been taken off, the guarding armies immediately take their leave to outside.
“Are they going to investigate us together?”
Sho turns to his confuse friend with a same low whisper.
“I think they thought we’re just normal kids and can’t bring harm to them.”
“If that so, that means your mom and dad were not taken away for Cool.”
Jun’s rightness makes Sho nods with a thoughtful look.
“Then, what’s the reason of his mom and dad arrestment?”
All of sudden, a man push open the interrogation room’s door. Looking by the uniform his wear, they know he is a high rank person, maybe a General Officer or something that has to do with it. None of them says anything until the man close the only door of the room back.
“So young men, do you know how serious it is for murdering people especially soldiers who just doing their job?”
Sho chuckles cynically.
“As far as I know, soldiers have no right to burst into commoner’s house just like that. What more to shoot anyone especially someone who’s underage like us.”
The old man frowns. With his arms crossing in front his chest, he stares the brave speaker suspiciously.
“Who are you?”
“Sakurai Sho.”
The name makes the older one snap aback. Immediately, he turns to the large mirror inside the room. Two soldiers in black enter the place in no time and all of sudden, drag Sho to leave the place with them. The other four guys try to stop them, but there’s nothing they could do anymore when one of the armies suddenly lift his rifle as warn to just stay on the same place.
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry.”
He glances reassuringly from his shoulder while following the forceful soldiers to outside. Right after he’s been dragged out, the General Officer immediately shut the door close, leaving Ohno, Aiba, Nino and Jun to hear clearly a shout from outside which is telling Sho to move. Angrily, they bring their gaze to the powerful man in front them.
“What are you trying to do to him?!”
“Well, it’s just a common procedure to find out about his father’s secret investigation. Who knows the friend of yours have the information we need.”
Their expressions change immediately.
What just the government realizes actually?
“If he doesn’t know anything, will you let him go?”
The older one chuckles.
“Depends. But I doubt it.”
Angry by it, Jun runs forward and swings his fist to punch the hateful man’s face. The General Officer however much faster in reacting as he just quickly grabs for Jun’s wrist and twists it strongly. Seeing Jun is in pain, Nino takes the chance to give the man a same strong punch. Yet, he doesn’t expect the older one can calmly dodge it and hardly kick his stomach, causing the hacker to fall painfully on floor follow by Jun to tumble beside him.
“You guys are hundred years early if you really think you can defeat me.”
Jun just grits hardly his teeth with his left hand rubs his right wrist. Nino does the same to his stomach when Ohno and Aiba clumsily move toward them and help them to get on their feet back.
“Since you guys are his best friends, I’ve questions to ask and I want you guys to answer it honestly.”
“What if we don’t want to?”
The General Officer just chuckles. As he shoves out the Magnum which supposes to belong to Sho from his belt, he unlocks it and moves to sit on the only chair in the room.
“No option. Answer my question if you want to leave this place alive.”
XXXXXX-XX-XXXX
At the same time in a different room, Sho is sitting calmly face to face with a complete protection soldier. He looks around, only to see a large mirror which he believes is observation window, a large table between him and the investigator and a knee high bucket on the corner. Two more soldiers are standing next to the investigate door with the same gasmask and goggle like the man in front him which make him to thoughtfully wondering about something.
“Where did your father hide it?”
Sho snaps out and turns to the soldier in front him immediately.
“Hide what?”
“His investigation. You should know about it.”
‘Investigation?’
The son of Chief Sakurai frowns. As far as he knows, his father only changes the information regarding Cool, not more neither less. Or maybe because his father taught him about laws and stuff that related to government which he shouldn’t know? But if that so, the man in front supposes to kill him already.
“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He however startles when the soldier suddenly hit the table between them.
“Don’t try to fool us. Where did he hide it?”
Furiously, Sho returns the man’s stare.”
“I have no idea. What information you’re talking about?”
“Project Eternity! Where did he hide it?!”
The genius guy becomes more confuse when this time the soldier suddenly gets up from his chair. He can hear the man unstable breath, probably because of trying to hold back his angriness. As the man quickly moves to beside him, Sho knows something terrible might happen to him anytime soon.
“You better tell us now before I force you to!!!”
“I said I don’t know! I even never hear anything related to the project from my father!”
Immediately, the room echo with loud thud sound when the soldier harshly kicks the table beside him. Sho who is still surprised startle when the man then forcefully grabs for his collar to make him stand up.
“WHERE IS IT?!!”
“I really don’t know!”
A sudden hard punch hit his face, causing him to immediately fall on the floor. There’s no space for Sho to have mental prepare when the man then strongly stomps on his stomach and start to kick, bashed and stomp all part of his body. Considering how muscular and strong that soldier is, Sho couldn’t fight back and only scream till the top of his lungs when the man purposely stomps on his hand. His breath hitches by the deathly pain. Even the bruises on lot part of his body and his bleeding mouth can’t compare with it.
“I’d meet hundred of criminals who are far stubborn than you. And guess what? Some of them that I also did this…”
He shifts his black boot a little to the poor guy’s fingers and gives a really hard pressure on it. Another painful scream escapes from Sho’s mouth with his body already shaking and sweating to withstand the mad torture.
“…break their hands since they didn’t want to say anything like you. You don’t want to through the same situation right?”
Feeling the pain gradually increase, Sho hardly grits his teeth. His body already curls to where the man is standing at so he can at least lessen the hurt a bit.
“So, what you say?”
A grin shows on the man face. He was so sure that Sho will give him any information about his father until he sees the other one is shaking his head between his hard breaths.
“I-I really…don’t know.”
Losing his patience, the soldier moves away his foot. Sho only can whine painfully when the army this time harshly pulls his hair to make him one get up. The heartless man then forces him to fall on knees in front of bucket full of water which he notices its presence inside the room before. Without any doubt, he realizes what kind of torture is awaiting him next.
“It’s better if you say it honestly, Sakurai. You don’t want me to kill you here right?”
“I told you, I don’t know what you’re talking-”
His face hit the water surface immediately.
The soldier sudden push makes Sho accidently chocked a lot amount of water. No matter how much he struggles to escape from the other one hold, it only causes him to lose more breath by every movement he makes. Only when he feels he is about to passed out, the man finally pulls his head out from the bucket, splashing the water that wetting his face to the floor below.
“Still stubborn?”
Sho couldn’t answer it. He only coughs badly for several times with his mouth wide open to suck as much as oxygen he can into his lungs. In no time however, he suddenly been pushed into the same place again with this time more water enter his throat. There’s audible warn and repeating questions from the torturer comes to his ears which makes Sho to feel more and more stress by the helplessness. His lungs feel like could burst anytime when the man suddenly pulls him out from the water again.
“It is pain right?”
While panting, Sho throw up some amount of water from his mouth. The cold water that is flowing from his face makes his shiver a little. He knows he can’t stay conscious any longer if this keeps on continuing.
“What is your answer?”
This time the man forces Sho to look up at him until the younger’s neck arch a bit. Seeing the other one still doesn’t have the answer he wants, the soldier angrily throws his victim hardly to the floor, causing Sho to hit his head with the hard surface.
After that, everything suddenly turns to blurring in Sho’s eyes. Even his body becomes so powerless. Two pair of hands then grabs for his arms and drags him out from the room. Despite of his confusion with everything around him, he still can hear Nino is shouting for him follow by Ohno, Aiba and Jun worry voice somewhere nearby. It feels like an entire hour pass before the owners of those hands throw him to a cold hard surface, causing him to yelp when his right hand knocks the floor. Soon, sound of closing metal and clicking come to his sense. There’s also sound of rushing footsteps from outside, but he feels too tired to even look up anymore.
“Sho!”
The familiar voice makes him weakly blink.
‘…Dad?’
His cold face immediately hit the floor.
And everything turns to dark.
