A/N: I know a few of my LJ friends probably already read this before and I deeply want to thank them especially for telling me their opinion. I really really want to mention who they are here but since I'm afraid I'll left a few names behind(since I can't remember all of them), I only can say my gratitude here. I'm terribly sorry for not mentioning your name, but I really appreciate your kindness! For [livejournal.com profile] datz_20, Thank You So much for beta-ed this story for me before. If not because of your awesome job, there's no way I'll even try to reread this fic again after 4 years. I can't recall almost the entire plot so there'll be changes with the story line and the writing.

There even parents who left their crying child behind and just run away to save their own selves. The urban area is now haunted by fires and reviving-dead human that can be seen anywhere. In the midst of the tragedy though, the police still give all their best to save as much life as they can while the soldiers try to defend the city from the reviving-dead humans’ attack. Everything is still out of control when all of a sudden a loud, eerie inhuman scream emerges from one part of the city, following by a blast and nonstop shooting sounds...

(North-East gate: Ohno Satoshi)

“Run to those trucks!”

The captain shouts while continuously shooting the attacking living dead before him with his gun. People quickly follow his direction and run toward the mentioned trucks to save their lives. When the number of people there starts to decrease, Ohno swiftly runs to a building corner to make sure there is no survivor left behind in the area. That is when he catches a sobbing sound from nearby, making him immediately moves around to search for the source until he finds one little boy is crying in a dark alleyway between two buildings on his right. Seeing the boy’s left leg is bleeding pretty hard, he runs to approach the other one as fast as he can and tear a small piece of his shirt to tie it around the wound. Ohno then carries the boy on his back and takes a U turn toward the last truck which is still waiting for them.

“CAPTAIN, RUN!”

The captain startles when see one of his people panicky points at something behind him. Immediately, he looks at the said direction, only to be surprised by a wave of living dead which now only two meters away from them. Noticing the number of zombies from the front and right road are kept increasing as well, Ohno hurriedly dashes to the left road while kicking away any close dead human until he found the left road is actually blocked by the ruin of burning building already. All his and the little boy’s escape routes are now out of the question.

“D*mn it.”

He grits his teeth while tightening his hold on the sniffling boy behind. As he quickly scans his surroundings, he notices there is an empty apartment nearby which has its door open wide. Without wasting any time, the captain of the elite defensive team accelerates into it and climbs all the stairs up to the top of the building. After making sure the rooftop is safe, he carefully put the injured boy on the floor and run to lock the only door there. He desperately catches all his breath back for a while before reaching for a certain button on his left ear earpiece, smiling reassuringly at the scared little boy at the same time.

“I need a help. B-12-5 roof.”

The brown hair guy sighs in relief when hears ‘roger’ from the other side. He then carefully lifts the injured boy in his arm and takes him to the side wall. Yet, once he crouches down and leans the boy on the wall of the roof edge, the two of them startle by sudden hitting sounds on the rooftop door. Ohno immediately reaches for his gun at that very moment and swiftly get up to aim for the uninvited ‘guests’ as the weak hitting changes to hysterical by instant. Just then they hear something is approaching them from above. The sight of a helicopter is coming to save them there make the previous little boy smiles widely despite his teary face until a loud slam comes from the only access way into there.

“They’re coming!” The kid screams terrifyingly while Ohno lifts his weapon and starts his trigger-party, each bullet accurately hit the dead heads without missed. Blood spurts everywhere as the bloody bodies violently storming out of the stairs. The living deads’ attack unfortunately shows no sign to end, even when the rescuing helicopter already flies low side by side with the rooftop edge. Soon, Ohno’s close friend suddenly jumps out of it, attempting to carry the injured little boy with him if the young one doesn’t refuse when seeing his real life saver still fighting against the increasing dead human to no avail in front. Realizing the situation, Ohno takes a glimpse behind;

“Get inside it! I’ll come after you!” and continues to kill the creepy creatures before him. The little boy was astonished, but fortunately listens to it anyway. Once Ohno’s partner, Kazama and the little survivor are safely sitting in the helicopter bulletproof cockpit, Ohno finally stops his shoot and turns around to jump inside as well. However, he totally dumbfound when the door suddenly being closed before the helicopter flies high into the dark sky. He was still confused by the unexpected situation until he sees Kazama is smiling evilly from the window while mouthing ‘goodbye’ in a really sarcastic manner.

‘What the-What the hell?!!’

The captain is completely shocked when the helicopter leaves him behind, alone.

His subordinates used to call him slow-thinker, but he is not that slow to get what just happen. He was betrayed. And the traitor is no other than the person he thought his best friend and his best partner for these past 3 years. Indeed, some people told him to be careful with Kazama as they said the latter is holding a grudge against him after he has been promoted to be a captain, but he never believe it. They are best friends since their trainer years after all.

Ohno’s thought suddenly stops by a low, creepy groan from behind. The second he feels a hungry grip on his left shoulder, he harshly pulls the dead creature by hand and breaks it arm. Immediately throwing it away and turns around, he surprises to see the rooftop are already occupied by bloody bodies. There are too many and it is impossible to kill them all. Having no choice, he hurriedly steps on the side wall, but freezes when realizes how tall the building he stands on actually is. Yet, when he looks back and greets by the approaching living dead groans, he bitterly chuckles.

“I would rather die than become one of you.”

The dead humans are now only a few meters from him. Taking a deep breath, Ohno turns to below again and jump off from the high building.

X-X-X-X-X
(North area : Sakurai Sho)

Sakurai immediately takes off his headphone when a loud horror squeal emerges his soundproof device. Various combinations of noises that he would never expect to hear – screams, cries, shouts and gun shootings rush into his ears by instant and just right outside of the hotel he is staying. Puzzled, he hurriedly approaches the closest window to look what is happening. His confuse eyes grow wider when found a large amount of people are running across the road in front the building, fear and panic clearly shows on each of them. There are numbers of trucks waiting ahead on the road. Police and defence unit are everywhere to be seen while the armies are shooting at something in every roadway that will lead to that place.

‘What are they shooting at?’

The journalist follows the shootings direction carefully. To his very surprise, uncountable numbers of something-bloody- humanlike creatures are flooding from almost every road there to the hotel. He tries to grasp what is actually going on until a scream from the corridor finally startling him and makes him runs to reach for his wallet and jacket from the desk. Sakurai then quickly slam open the door of his hotel room, only to feel more surprise when saw the small space already crowded with people who are pushing each other so they can get outside first. A kid later falls on the floor in the middle of the panic and cry when people keep stepping on him although he tries to get up several times. His mother tries to pull him up, but unfortunately also falls on her stomach due to the strong push from behind. The full heartbreaking scene has been watched by Sakurai. He tries to approach them so many times, but fail when the panic crowd keeps pushing him back into his room. Finally, after a few minutes of struggling, the journalist could reach the mother and son by firmly protect them with his back.

“Are you okay?” He grunts every time someone’s elbow, arms or shoulders hit his right side. The mother on the other hand already bleeding. Carefully, Sakurai helps her to stand on her own feet while she tries to hold her crying son. She doesn’t manage to lift her child into her arms when Sakurai suddenly takes him away and carry him instead.

“Let’s go. We need to hurry.”

The mother thanks him gratefully. The three of them then already move together with the crowd not long after to the wide open exit of the hotel. They somehow manage to get out from the crowded building several seconds later before dashing to the truck area like the other survivors do.

Suddenly, Sakurai feels a sudden pull by his necklace from behind. It makes him choke a little, but continues to run anyway after getting his composure back. Everyone can’t stop from pulling each other in this situation he thought until he feels something slides down from his neck.

TANG!

He looks behind immediately. Cold blood runs to his face when he found his precious dried four leaves clover necklace is now lying on the ground. After his daughter suddenly disappears a year ago, he wears the birthday gift as a reminder of her. Old memories of his daughter that rush into his mind all of a sudden makes him unconsciously stop moving. However, once he realizes that he has a kid with him, he hastily runs toward one of the trucks in front where the mother of the child he is carrying currently waiting.

As soon as Sakurai passes the child to the expecting lady in the truck so he can climb on the vehicle as well, the mother and the son embrace each other immediately. Yet, right before he is fully inside, his body suddenly freezes. That is when his mind wanders back to the necklace he left behind.

“What are you looking at? Hurry up!”

The shout comes from the nearby soldier doesn’t budge him a bit.

Without thinking twice, Sakurai already jumped off and run back along the road to the glittering silver necklace he left. Warnings were thrown by the defence team at him, but he keeps running anyway, not even bother by the strong bumps he had every time he run into people from the opposite way until he finally has the necklace in his reach, sighing in relief when found the holding glass doesn’t have any scratch. The single father then quickly puts it back into his jeans pocket before the eerie squeal he heard in the previous hotel room suddenly enters his ears again, but this time from a seriously close range.

Immediately, Sakurai turns his face to the road on his left. He feels like his heart suddenly stops working when found a 3 meter height humanlike giant is now swiftly heading to his direction with another creepy groan. Its face and some body parts is wrapping all over by dirty bandage while its right hand is swaying the bloody big axe it is holding everywhere in mad speed.

Too shock by the sight, Sakurai couldn’t move a muscle. An eerie scream then comes from the giant thing again as it now raises its big axe high in the air, aiming nothing but to slash Sakurai apart.

The last thing he remembers was a group of senior scientists told him that he received too much radiation and needed to undergo a special treatment to save his life immediately.

Profile
-Name : Aiba Masaki
-Age : 27

As he keeps on reading it, he hears a sudden man’s scream from outside and immediately looks at the only door there. His hand reaches for the wires on his body and clumsily starts to remove it one by one to see what is happening outside and more importantly, find the answers of the endless questions that filling his mind. The new scientist doesn’t expect the metal door will suddenly open by itself when he stands behind it, but once he comes out of it, he feels more dumbfounded by the sight of a long corridor before him. The sound of the door begins to close behind makes the newbie scientist immediately turns around and find there is something stated on it.

‘No. 100?’

He quickly looks back at the empty corridor in front.

“IS ANYONE HERE?!”

Only the echoes of his voice can be heard.

Though still feel insecure, Aiba decides to start walking and pass through numbers of weird rooms on his left and right which he takes as inspecting room considering from the large observing windows next to each door. That thought, of course, makes him feel more terrify especially when realizing all empty and has number states on the door, but he has no choice aside of keep on going. Several seconds later he finally reaches another door and steps back cautiously when it suddenly opens.

The founding this time surprises the confused man. There is a bloody counter with a broken computer on his left. On his right is a gloom pathway which will lead him to the upstairs. Right in front of him meanwhile is a long normal corridor which will lead to different closed room. Slowly, he takes a few steps inside there until he found the wall in the gloom pathway is actually stained with still dripping blood.

‘What-’

Something suddenly grabs his arm from behind. A loud, painful shriek comes from Aiba’s mouth when his right arm suddenly been bitten hardly with a pair of sticky hands holding the arm strong from moving. Blood gushes out from his wound like a heavy rain immediately and dirtying the floor below them. The hurting scientist clumsily reaches his other hand for the attacker’s head as an attempt to save his life, surprises when found a bloody face with a pair of white eyes are looking back at him. Gathering his last power, Aiba tremblingly grabs the head and starts to push his attacker into the wall with his body. The teeth pierce deeply his already bad wound, but he forces himself to stomp the other thing again and again until the bite finally getting weaker.

Panting, he takes the only chance to pull the thing away. The bleeding man then hurriedly runs through the corridor and hastily locks himself
in a storeroom that he found left open.
Before he can calm down however, his wound suddenly feels like on fire. Yet, already weak enough, Aiba fell to the floor right away and wail painfully until his voice hoarse due to the torturing burn. Once it disappears a minute after, he doesn’t have any energy left to move and only can pant heavily. The torment totally worn him out though somehow after he still manages to force himself up and leans weakly on the door, not without difficulty and breathing hard.

‘I thought I was going to die... What's that thing seriously?’

He sighs and touches his wound. To his surprise, he feels there is no scratch on his skin. Confused, Aiba clumsily takes a look at it and frowns when sees only dried blood left on it. There is no bitten wound, holes or even single scratch left. What was written on the paper before immediately comes into his memory.

-Serum : XP-32014

‘…Isn’t the government supposed to ban them from using this serum? Why it’s included in my profile?’

-Programmed special ability :

‘Special ability? Wait. Don’t tell me…”

Sudden footsteps from the corridor behind surprise him. Worried if it comes from the same thing that attacked him, Aiba stays motionless on the same spot. A nerve-wrecking 30 seconds pass in silence as the footsteps are clearly heading closer which makes the new scientist tries to hold his shaking breath.

Until he heard a pair of feet suddenly stops right behind the door he is hiding.

(Central area : Ninomiya Kazunari)

A sigh escapes Ninomiya’s mouth as he turns to the clock next to his flickering television - 8.52 p.m.

Slowly, the sleepy man gets up from his couch. He yawns widely while at the same time careful to not step on his games that he leaves on the floor yesterday. After turning his television off, he walks in the darkness towards his bathroom to clean himself. He has an important date at 10 and he doesn’t want to be late so he just takes a quick shower and rushes to wear his clothes. Several minutes later the professional gamer is all ready to leave his house until he suddenly remembers about something important.

‘The ring! I almost forgot it!’ Ninomiya practically jumps to reach for a small box on his dining table. He couldn’t believe he almost forgetting the main point of today’s date. After all, it would be extremely embarrassing if he is going to propose his girlfriend without having the ring with him.
Snorting on his own mistake, the gamer then takes a quick look at his living room for the last time. Once he is sure enough that he doesn’t forget anything anymore, he finally comes out and locks the door of the apartment he is living at, almost taking one deep breath when a series of shootings suddenly comes from outside of the building. Screams that follow close after stiffens him for a while.

‘…Did I mishear something?’

A loud explosion from outside startle him. The frightening surprise however hasn’t stopped there when he hears a sudden terrified scream comes from downstairs. As quick as he can, he climbs all the stairs down; only to be stunned when found a lot of lifeless bodies lying on the ground floor of his apartment building. His eyes open wide when sees some of it still bleeding heavily while some other more already lost some of the body parts, either legless or armless. Despite his profession as a professional gamer, never even in his dream he would expect something like this to turn out real especially when he recognizes some of the faces there are his neighbors, their eyes already showed nothing but emptiness and horror.

Already confuse and shaking, Ninomiya quickly gets out of the place. He was still trying to calm down himself as he takes out his mobile phone tremblingly to dial a certain number when a lady suddenly runs out of a nearest corner while screaming.

“HELP ME!”

She however doesn’t manage to step further when a bloody humanlike creature suddenly grabs her body from behind and bites her neck. Too shock by the view, Ninomiya drops his phone immediately. Despite the woman’s pleads and screams, the professional gamer totally freezes and only can watch the woman loses her life while liters of blood spill under her and the biting zombie. Yet, once the now dead victim falls weakly to the ground in front him, Ninomiya finally wakes up from his daze when realizes the biting creature is now looking at him.

Clumsily, he moves aback until he steps on a body in uniform. The shining black gun that still in the hold of the dead policeman’s hand caught his eyes right when the creepy creature tries to reach for him.

“STAY AWAY FROM ME!”

Ninomiya drops on the ground and gives several panic shoots until the creature fall on its knees. He doesn’t know where did he aim at, but seeing that thing lying unmoving on the road, he knows he just shoot at the right spot. Cautiously then he approaches the creepy creature before clumsily back off and almost steps on his own foot after realizing what it is.

‘Z-Zombie?’

Now everything ridiculously unbelievable for Ninomiya. The young man immediately looks up and surprise when see he is surrounded by burning cars, garbage and bloody dead bodies on the ground. The asphalt under him stains with blood and lead to the only roadway there which has endless ambulance sirens come from it. However, still lose in confusion, he doesn’t realize there is footsteps come from behind.
Only when he hears a panting sound, he finally turns around and lifts the gun to the sound’s source.

“Saki?”

He freezes once recognize his girlfriend’s face. Immediately, he put down his gun.

“Saki? Why are you here? Are you okay?”

Ninomiya quickly runs toward her. Yet, he stops abruptly when blood all of a sudden comes from his lover’s mouth, smoothly flowing down to her hand which is pressing on her bleeding stomach before dripping to the ground where she is stepping on.
The view makes Ninomiya turn pale by instant. Worriedly, he tries to reach the other one as he could see she is trying to say something while mouthing his nickname.

“What happened? W-Why-?” Someone suddenly gives a shoot right from behind him. He could feel a gush of wind pass next his face a millisecond after, following by a splash of blood spurts from his girlfriend’s chest.

Time somehow stops ticking after that as Ninomiya widens his eyes and watch his beloved one freeze on the spot and begins to fall. A horror scream breaks the residential area as he runs with all his might to catch his now dead lover, a velvet wedding ring box has slipped from his jacket pocket at the same time.

X-X-X-X-X

(South-West highland : Matsumoto Jun)

Prayers chanting fills the large private Dojo of Matsumoto’s household. Two Shinto priests are completely focused doing their job to perform a purification ritual on the family swords and pray for the safety of the family successor while the said successor sits quietly in the middle of the training room, closing his eyes and concentrate with the flow of the old tradition. Soon after the Dojo suddenly turns to silence. Matsumoto opens his eyes and immediately get up when see the priests walk toward him. The elder of the two then gives him the swords as a green signal that he can leave any moment from now, both to fulfill the mission that suddenly given by his father just not long ago and prove to the entire family that he is really qualified to become the next successor.

“We will pray for your safety, young master.”

Matsumoto just nods and bow down at the priests. He then quickly makes a way to the weapon room and begins to grab for anything he thinks beneficial, hiding and tying it on his arms, legs and hip. Shoving two guns into the gun belt of his back waist, Matsumoto then puts the two swords he gets previously on his back and set it properly. The minute he comes out of there, he found the house servants already waiting along the corridor with their tense expression. He however doesn’t bother with it and just calmly walks to his motorcycle that has been prepared at the yard before his butler politely comes forward and pass him the helmet.

“Please be careful young master.”

The successor nods and thanks him.

Finally well-prepared, Matsumoto starts the engine and disappear into the dark night. He goes down a long uphill before drives on a road through a thick forest with only the headlights and the moon showing his way.

‘Go and check the city by yourself, huh?’

What his father told him before comes into his mind. It was a weird order. Though his father did mention once that he will give him a dangerous mission any time, this mission clearly has no obvious instruction or goal. Besides, there will be no one covering, companying or watching him performing his task like usual. Even when he receives the task before, he at first was the only Matsumoto that was not assigned to do a certain rescuing job in the city. The fact that he is being sent out after his father said the rest family members can handle the job makes him wonder.

Losing in his thought, a creaking tree sounds from nearby startles him. The successor later surprises when a large trunk suddenly falls just a few meters in front him, causing him to immediately throw himself away from his motorcycle to the roadside. A big explosion occurs right when the motorcycle meets the trunk while Matsumoto landing on the hard road behind. The successor’s adrenaline was still pumping hardly in his body as he put away his helmet and watches the huge blaze right before his eyes.

“That was so close.”

Sighing in relief, the man decides to walk by himself to the city. He makes sure his weapon is all still with him until he arrives at a four junction’s road where his steps stop in abrupt. The scene of several dead bodies scatters on the road make his eyes open wide. Some of the dead ones’ expression is even so horrifying like they have seen something terrible before they died. There are blood and blaze to find anywhere, along with incomplete body parts which is more than enough to make any inexperienced person to have a worst nightmare ever. In the midst of the terror, Matsumoto hears a loud bark comes from his left side. He turns his face to the direction immediately and stun to find a fierce three headed dog are staring him hungrily.

“Cerberus?” Without letting the successor to grasp the situation, ‘the hell dog’ from Greek mythology runs at a mad speed toward him. Saliva dirties the road as the three headed dog open its mouth wide, showing its sharp and bloody teeth.

Though still confuse, the horse size-hell dog doesn’t shake Matsumoto a bit. The moment the Cerberus jump toward him, Matsumoto swiftly turns around and gives a heavy spinning kick right on its head which makes the heavy weight Cerberus crash hardly against the side road. Just when he thinks it is already over, the three headed dog suddenly gets up and runs at him again, this time much faster and angrier than before. A loud howl escapes from the dog as it jumps highly which makes Matsumoto reaches for the sword on his back, cut it smoothly into two just in a blink of eyes. Right after the successor put back his sword and turns around, he notices a code of the lifeless opponent’s body.

‘No. 33?’

Footsteps suddenly come from the four directions of his surroundings. The man immediately looks up and surprises when sees flood of zombies are coming towards him, making him reach for his sword again in swift motion as his eyes stop at the dead Cerberus.

‘D*mn. These dead bodies must be coming here because their howl.’

Some of the zombies suddenly groan aloud and move faster to him. The groans answer by creepy moans and screams as now all the reviving-dead human trying to reach for him, forcing Matsumoto to tighten his grip on his sword and run toward the endless enemies.

A bloody feast just begins.

>Hi everyone! Honestly, I feel really nervous now. I think I've been on 'off' mode for too long and my confidence level in writing seriously went downhill. Besides, I've seen so many writers either 'retired' or on hiatus so that also somehow affect me. I really thought I can't write anything anymore, but thanks to some of you who told me that they're really looking forward to see a new fic from me, I decided to give a new try. My problem now is not the plot, but confidence-level(over-negative thought T^T).
>A few of you must be noticed that this new fic (Dead Run)somehow will remind you with my previous fics at certain part, right? Especially Shinigami no Game. But let me tell you something. Actually, Dead Run is my second fic after 'ARASHI'. I didn't remember most of the plot after I dropped it around 2011, so if you saw there's any part of this fic which is quite same with my other fics, it was a PURE coincidence(or more to creepy coincidence in my opinion - -"). And due to the reason that I can't remember the original plot as well, I changed the story line a little bit. To show my respect to all my friends whom I've emailed this fic to, I add -Revival- at the end of the name. I think I'll tell you the difference between the original plot and this one on the next post ;)
>I would appreciate for your comment, opinion or criticism. I seriously need to know.
